It is so good to read about what our kids are up to. We have a nice variety here, but the thing we seem to have in common is an interest, and participation in, their activities. Certainly a good thing!!!

I went to a parenting class a few weeks ago that was all about the transition from 8th grade to high school. AMong other things they had list of things they called 'assets' and it is sort of a checklist of the kinds of things your kids need to be successful in school & life & parental involvement was IMPORTANT! I found the seminar to be very informative. If anyone is interested in the list I'd be glad to send you a copy. Just PM me.

One of the really neat things we've been rewarded with over the years as we participated in the kids activities is scores of new friendships! We've made friends who we know will be life-long friends.

I'd love to have a copy, Lars.

Lars, my friend who was divorced last year could use that list. She let her X have custody of their DS so he could stay in the same school district. Now he is doing VERY poorly and has virtually no parenting. He had 2 incompletes and a fail on his last report card (he is a sophomore), and is talking about dropping out of school. This from a boy who 2 years ago was an honor roll student!
