My mom who is fascinated with Europe started liking Rick Steves Europe and I was wondering if any of you have seen Rick Steves Europe before. Mom fell in love with the show and now wants to someday own some of Rick Steves Europe episodes on DVD. From what my mom saw of the show she thinks it is wonderful

His YouTube videos are awsome.

I have only seen a few episodes and really enjoyed them. In case you are interested he has a box calendar featuring a different city every day or one per weekend. I found out about it maybe 3-4 years ago and buy it on Amazon. I am sure there are other places you can get it as well.

I like him as he is all about the location and not some "travel" influencer where it's all about them. He has an app to for when you are actually traveling. like a tour guide

I’ve never followed his ideas and activities slavishly (learned from that mistake with Arthur Frommer; lord, that man couldn’t eat!) but do enjoy the feel of his vids. He’s quite knowledgeable on his chosen topic and a genial host. Spent many a Saturday cleaning while he talked in the background.

I've seen all of the episodes they air on PBS (which I don't think is every episode he's made) at least 2 or 3 times each. My parents would have it on every night at 7:30, but when it got too repetitive they switched to Modern Family reruns on another channel.

My friends and I used some of his guidebooks back in 2007 when we did our summer abroad in France.

We used a wonderful tour guide in Berlin that Rick Steves recommended in one of his books. My family agrees that this guide was one of the best we've had in all our travels.

Rick Steves is the MAN!! During the pandemic, he paid his entire staff out of his own pocket because no one was traveling. He also had these zoom parties on Monday nights with fans and we loved that. When we honeymooned in France, we used his guide for Provence and followed his route. It was magical. I've consulted his books many times over the years and for Europe they are the only guides I will use. I use lonely planet for Asia. He also has a great radio show on NPR that airs every Sunday at 16:00 on WGBH.

I really like his shows and the European Christmas episode is a must watch every year. He also has a podcast that is pretty good and I think his site, and sometimes PBS, has past episodes on demand.

It is pretty long in the tooth at this point but Samantha Brown's Passport To Europe, that used to be on the Travel Channel, was also pretty good.

We have followed him for years. We use his guidebooks and videos to plan European travel. When COVID shut everything down, we also Zoomed into his Monday Night Travel Talk shows. He continued to pay his staff throughout the pandemic. We also bought some of his luggage, which has held up for over two decades of travel. That said, I would not buy the DVDs. You can view the episodes on his website or PBS. Some of his shows are on Prime, if you subscribe.

He also has a ton of segments on YT.

I've followed him since the 80's. Over the years I have watched shows, read books, etc. I have always loved travel, although I don't get to do as much as I'd like. I took a big trip in my single days using one of his guidebooks in 88. My sister and I used to joke about marrying him back in the day because he met all our criteria - he even played the piano! One of my favorite charities in college, Bread for the World, was also one of his. When DH and I took another trip years later, we took a couple of classes at his store since we live in the area - one of them taught by him personally.

I've watched some of his shows and read some of his books. I find him very knowledgeable and a good source of insider information.

That said, I wouldn't bother to buy the DVDs, only because he seems to be on TV pretty regularly. I WOULD buy the book, if I was going to a specific place--in fact, DS17 bought me his "Iceland" book for Christmas, because we're considering a family trip there in 2025.

You know what you should do? Buy your wonderful mom a couple of the DVD sets. She will love them!

I’ve been a fan of Rick Steves for long enough that I’m having a hard time remembering when I started watching him. I’ve used several of his books and found them helpful, although I do also like to explore more places beyond what he covers in the books. A friend and I saw him speak in person at a local event to raise money for our public television event. I was impressed that after the event he stayed to greet each person who wanted a book signed and didn’t rush off.

We have the book, too. Have you watched the Travel Talk series? Cameron Hewitt is the speaker. We found it helpful when getting together an outline for our itinerary.
