"The curse of the washed-up '80s star strikes again.

"Jessie's Girl" singer, Rick Springfield, was arrested Sunday night in Malibu on suspicion of driving under the influence, The Los Angeles Times reports.

Springfield, 61, was stopped after a sheriff's deputy spotted him speeding in his 1963 Corvette on Pacific Coast Highway, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told the paper.

Officers smelled alcohol on Springfield's breath and administered a breathalyzer test. The department says Springfield's blood-alcohol content was .10 percent -- the legal limit in California is .08.

The singer and former "General Hospital" star was released on Monday on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 5.

But Springfield is not the only former '80s icon to see his star fade. From George Michael to Boy George, let us know: Who is the most washed-up '80s rocker?"

At least TMZ doesn't call him "washed-up".

I forgot to mention. My sister called me last night to let me know he was going to be on Hawaii 5-0. I don't watch it but you know, Rick Springfield.:love:

4 minutes into the show and he was dead. :sad2: I changed the channel.

Someone who read his book said he's been plagued with depression for decades. I think it's catching up with him again. :sad1:

Back in the day, he lived with Linda Blair, she was 15 at the time and he was about 10 years older:scared1:

belle0101, be careful, you sound like you can end up singing "I've done everything for you"

He was THE teen heartthrob during my day, I was 11 and I had his poster from the album store on my door.:lovestruc

Akkk, hereyago, is that really true? I was 10 so my understanding was limited. I believed it when Boy George's publicists said he was only wearing the makeup & dancing like that as part of the 'stage show' and thought the guys in WHAM just liked those shorts: "Bad Boys" rotfl:

That was probably me.

I never knew that until I read his book. Some crazy stuff he did back in the day.

That was probably me.

Umm. . . rephrasing: Someone at the Old Fogies Club told me he's been plagued with depression for decades. I forget who told me. But, she looked & sounded a lot like. . . YOU!

That or "Human Touch". :rolleyes1

I was naive back in the day too. I though Boy George was just his stage persona. And WHAM? Crazy rock stars and their even crazier costumes. :lmao:

But whew, i tell you what when Jessie's Girl came out, and he was on GH. where is the drool smiley? lol

In your defense, 'cause us Fogies have to look out for each other :thumbsup2, it could have also been Usnooze. I know she and I had PMed about it. I just can't remember if she also posted on the thread. :confused3

Too bad. I gladly would have driven out from the Inland Empire to drive him and his '63 Vette around Malibu...

he's been plagued with depression for decades. I forget who told me.

A few months ago, I watched him being interviewed on a talk show (can't remember the show). He talked about his depression. He was sluggish in his responses and appeared to have difficulty coming up with what he wanted to say. He was not mentally sharp. I really felt bad for him.

Depression can affect cognitive function. Then again, so can a lot of other things. Like you said, maybe it's all catching up with him. :confused3

Yeah, Hawaii 5-O, I pointed to the screen and said, OMG that's Rick Springfield and my husband said, "who's that?" Just about sums it up. I wish him well though and it doesn't seem like he was so drunk. Hey, I am so anti alcohol but they've lowered the limits pretty far and some people are accustomed/practiced. No, I'm not condoning it. Can we assume he's an alcoholic though with a blow of .10? I saw him on a talk show recently too and he seemed really nice and calm albeit old.

We did have this discussion in our old home.

Yes we talked about him. I met him in 04 and believe it or not he still had a baby face. He was very sweet but during his concert you could tell he was in alot of pain.

:lmao: George Michael being gay NEVER crossed my mind when I was in love with him in the mid 80's. Nothing wrong with it. I just thought I had a chance!

Reading this saddens me, I thought he was back on track with his life and I was secretly hopeing he would be back in Disney this year again for the "eat to the beat" concert series during F&W Festival, I keep checking to see who has been added but now I seriously have to doubt if he will be back again.:sad2:
