Richmond American Homes?

Hi there,

My fiance and I are looking to buy a new home and a new development by Richmond American in Maryland is currently at the top of our list. However, we don't know much about them and none of our family/friends have ever built with them before, so I was wondering if anyone on the Dis has had any experience with them before...good, bad, or otherwise.

all i can say is that they've built some homes in Jacksonville, that are amazing! We tried to get in on them but they were sold out by the time we found them. I haven't heard anything negative...our friends purchased in the neighborhood we were looking at.

They have nice designs but their quality is lacking. Now, they are certainly not the worst out there but they aren't the best. My mom bought a Richmond American townhome and she had to have a LOT of fixes after move in. It was just shoddy in some ways. When we were house hunting, we went and looked at their homes and they were just okay. We ended up going with Van Metre and quality was one of the deciding factors.

Basically, though, it comes down to what kind of crews they are hiring in that particular area to work on the house and how good the superintendant of the project is. It can vary from neighborhood to neighborhood.

I will say that even if things go wrong, they do stand behind their work and will fix it.
