We will be celebrating Christmas at Disney this year. To make it extra special I bought the Richard Petty Rookie experience for my husband's Christmas present. I scheduled it for 12/24 8am.

I received the paperwork today. Geeeesss, I'm having second thoughts about doing this!

Should I be worried? I'm sure it is fairly safe or I probably would have read something somewhere. We are parents to a 4 year old.

I guess I just need to hear from those who have experienced this. My husband isn't crazy so I know he'll be careful. He's also in good health.

I have signed the 17 pages (ha ha) of waivers from the RPDE twice and would do it again and again. It's great! The crew, cars and safety are top notch. The RPDE cars are probably safer than the ride getting to the speedway!

Just noticed you're from NH. I have done the RPDE at NHIS (Loudon) and Disney! I want to do it at a 1.5 mile track next! Maybe Vegas if I go out there again!

It does seem pretty scary! My husband has done the RPDE both at Disney and Atlanta.
He had a great time. He's 62 years old, has had 4 discs removed and had 5 hip replacement surgeries. He is pretty active though! The hardest part is crawling in the
14" window!

Let him do it! He'll love it!

BTW, DH liked the WDW experience better than the Atlanta one.

That paperwork is intimidating. I bought the rookie exp. for my dh back in March of '04. He LOVED it! He's talking about working some extra before our January trip so he can do it again. The releases sound scary- but it's really just to cover them. You do drive at high rates of speed, but it is so controlled. To me I think you have just as much chance getting injured there as you do in your own car.

Thank you for the reassurance.

I know he will love it. I plan to have our DD(4) give daddy his gift the night before.

thanks again

I don't think I've seen a negative review from those that have done it. I did the Experience of a Lifetime back in April and would go again no questions asked (which given the waivers you sign, it's almost the same thing).
