I think I did (or they drove!) 3 laps (not sure, a couple of years ago).
I think it was $99.
It was one of those things that I am glad I experienced, yes it was a little $$.
But the thing I remember the most is that it was not that exciting.
We went about 140 MPH and I told the driver to go as fast as he could (which he probably did). Now if they had strapped me onto the roof of the car... That would have been a very exciting experiece!
My husband did the rookie experience and he loved that. That was pretty expensive ($350 I think), but after he did it (and I saw what it entailed) I could understand the high price. If you had the extra money, I would say go for the rookie experience.
I did the ride along at WDW a couple of years ago and when I got off, my first question was if I could go again. My next question was, how could I get a job there as a driver. Unfortunately, neither one of my questions got the answer I was hoping for but it was a cool ride. It was also very short because the track is only a mile. It seems like you are only out there for 2 laps but they add the lap when you leave pit road so it is 3 laps. I believe it would be even better at a bigger track, like Daytona or Talladega.
Check the Richard Petty site. Also if you have AAA there's a discount at least for the Rookie experience. That saved me about $80 when DS then 24 did it at WDW.
