I just booked this for DH for father's day on Sunday. Anyone been there?

I did it for my husband about 5 years ago for his 40th birthday present and he had a great time. Did you get a package where he drives himself? I don't think my husband would have been as thrilled with the ride along experience, but he loved driving the car. They get to do about 8 good laps after some instruction time. They will take his picture next to the car and also when he gets in the car. You had to buy them I think , but we got the pictures in a nice frame and triple mat with the two pictures of DH and 1 of Richard Petty. It was a nice thing to take home from the experience. My son did this in 2005. It's as close as I've seen to anyone walking on air! I got the AAA discount which made me happy as it's so expensive.

Well so much for the surprise but he's very excited! We were watching videos on youtube and trying to figure out if you can purchase a video from the car too?


He's going to do the Rookie experience which is 8 laps. I'm excited for him and my 3yo DS is going to really enjoy seeing daddy in a race car

driving experience last September. He drove the car at the Daytona track.
He LOVED it. Absolutely loved it. It was worth every single penny. There are lots of photo ops too.
The track at Daytona is bigger than the WDW track and if your husband is a die hard Nascar fan, it's worth the 1 hour drive to Daytona. The history of the track makes it worth it for sure.

I took my husband there for his birthday May 2. It was fantastic and he did the King’s Experience. I also purchased a ride along after I go there and enjoyed every bit of it. Get the DVD. We just received ours and it is a great memory to watch over and over again. You did the right thing!!!!

I am glad we did the extra 10 laps as it takes you the first 8 to get the hang of it. His last 10 aps were faster and better.

There is a website and you can look up availability there.


I booked it yesterday for this Sunday :blush She did say it was filled after me but it didn't say that online. I'm not sure how many people are in a class either.

How do yougetthe AAA discount? Can you get the discount at any of the Petty driving experiences?

Not sure how much the AAA discount is but you also can get a discount with your annual pass.

AAA discount was substantial -- You must call PETTY to book that way -- Can't do it on the website.

I screwed up, so I remember now...

DH did Rookie Experience in Dec 2007 -- He was riding high for weeks describing it. Nothing like a 200 lb guy becoming a beaming proud kid -- reminds me of those Orlando commercials.
