Wednesday 3rd May:
Well, we wake up as normal, but for me its not good. I tend to suffer from dehydration easily and get bad headaches. Today was a real bad one. Avonia and Victoria have their breakfasts while I try and rehydrate on pink lemonade and water.
Things did not seem to get any better for me so I sent Avonia and Victoria off to MGM Studios by Disney bus and I stayed at the POFQ.
I spent my morning between Sassagoulas and the room collecting my pink lemonade. Thank goodness for the refillable mug, it would have cost me a fortune otherwise. I decided to stroll the gardens and sit on the benches in the shade. By 11.00am I decided to take a leisurely stroll to Riverside, so armed with full mug of pink lemonade, off I went. Interestingly, whilst sitting on a bench in the shade, I realised that the buildings I was looking at on the other side of the river were actually the hotel rooms for the Riverside! So I did a quick estimate: our room in Building 7 of the French Quarter was actually nearer to the restaurants etc in the Riverside than some of the rooms at the Riverside. Now that's a long walk in the morning for your cup of tea.
In the meantime, Avonia and Victoria were enjoying themselves at MGM:
Victoria took in Rock n Roller Coaster, Avonia chickening out again (Edited by DW "I already did this 5 years ago and it put the willies up me then!"). Victoria told me she didn't think it was as good as the last time she went on it. So I told her that was 5 years ago and she was only 8 then (more about this in later reports). After that, both Avonia and Victoria rode the Tower of Terror using their fastpasses, which still took 15 minutes to queue.
They decided to take their "meal", chicken strips at the Sunset Ranch Market.
Following lunch they took in the Backlot Tour and then Narnia (apparently the best bit of this is the snow at the end). Now the weather was warming up again (back in the mid 90's) so they decided to make their way back to the POFR where they met up with me at 3.00pm with my umpteenth mug of pink lemonade.....still with headache but slowly diminishing.
By 4.00pm headache gone
so we all freshened up and jumped into Miss Piggy for the short trip down the backroads to the Polynesian for the 5:15pm showing of the "Spirit of Aloha".
Now that looks dangerous!
Yep! You've guessed it....more food! Having been more than suitably fed and entertained we decided to stroll down to the beach to take in some of the evening sunshine.
Now, this Polynesian Resort is a really nice place, and if you can afford it (I can't - but I won't go into how badly I'm paid) I would definately recommend it. Victoria loved it and it was very difficult to drag her away.
We spent a nice relaxing time here before nipping over to the MK by monorail to catch the evening fireworks.
After the impressive display we returned to the Polynesian by boat to pick up Miss Piggy to take us back to our equally wonderful hotel..Miss Piggy getting us there without any of the "scenic" routes on the way back. So with our refillable mugs topped up with our evening's tipple, we drank and then made our way to bed.
