Tuesday 9th May:
Today we all got up a bit sharpish as we were going to Blizzard Beach - utilising the EMH and getting there at 9.00am. Again, Miss Piggy was one of the first cars in the car park.
We chose our shady spot, Avonia settled down on a sunbed and Victoria and I went off to do the "rides". Up the steps, down the chutes, up the steps, down the chutes etc. etc. After about an hour of this I decided it was time for Summit Plummit so I left Victoria to her own means. After going the wrong way round I managed to find my way there. Wanting to keep fit it wasn't the chairlift for me. No! I was going to climb the steps.......
Wheeze! Gasp! Wheeze! Gasp! hmmm, its a good job I'm "really" fit! Its amazing how conversation trails off at the top of Summit Plummit. Having learned my lesson 5 years ago when I wore Speedos and ended up at the bottom wearing a thong, I wore the "short" style trunks this time. They still don't stop the feeling that someone is kicking you on the way down, but at least you reach the bottom with dignity!
53 MPH!! WAS THAT ALL!! Hmmph! Maybe there's more drag on my trunks this year.
I then returned to Avonia to let her enjoy the entertainment. After we'd all had a go on a number of things, and as the temperature was in the 90's again we left at about 11.30 to go an get a quick freshen up and snack back at the POFQ.
In the afternoon we visited the Animal Kingdom again. Straight over to Everest to join the single ride queue:
We then took advantage of our Photopass to get some more character photos and autographs:
We took a little more time today to explore the Kingdom - more nip down all those little side routes that you tend to ignore most of the time. There are some excellent shady spots which offer some very good views.
We then made our way over to see to see the Festival of the Lion King. I love this show, and in my humble opinion, it knocks the spots of the Musical which I saw in London.
After the Lion King Miss Piggy took us back to the POFQ to freshen up (boy! was it hot again!).
Tonight we were off to the Whispering Canyon for our evening meal. What a hoot!! KETCHUP!!. Victoria also told them it was my birthday on the Sunday (14th) so of course I was called up the the front of the restaurant for the ritual humiliation....stand up and sit down to the "Bs" in "My Bonnie lies over the ocean".
The food again was outstanding. I had the Skillet....and no, I couldn't manage another one. And I loved the "service" - how many times have you had your napkins and straws thrown at you by your waitress?
Fully "over" fueled we had a little explore around the lodge and then Miss Piggy took us back to POFQ. Victoria got changed into her swimmies whilst Avonia and I collected our drinks in the refillable mugs. We sat next to the pool and let Victoria "entertain" us before turning in for the night for yet another well earned reat.
