Not Rumor - but NEWS!

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=89470

For the last 15 years, I have had the opportunity to work with incredibly talented people on behalf of the world’s best loved brand. During that time, we’ve told some amazing stories around the world, created successful TV programming, movies, and franchises that generated new opportunities for the company in the process.

I’ve always said our success is created and driven by our people – whom I consider to be the absolute best in the business. But, the best people need to be in the right jobs, in roles they are passionate about, doing work that leverages the full range of their abilities. It’s one of the leadership lessons I’ve learned during my career, and it’s something I’ve been giving a great deal of thought to as I look at the challenges and opportunities ahead.

I believe in this extraordinary Walt Disney Studios team, and I believe in our strong slate of films and our ability to make and market them better than anyone else. But, I no longer believe the Chairman role is the right professional fit for me. For that reason, I have made the very difficult decision to step down as Chairman of The Walt Disney Studios, effective today.

It has been my honor to work with such incredible teams – at Disney Channels Worldwide and The Walt Disney Studios and the many other Disney businesses I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with. I know I leave the Studios in good hands and, even on separate paths, I am confident we are all destined for continued success.

Not exactly Disney Parks news - but a big position within the company that might result in a shake-up.

My 1st thought: Falling on the John Carter sword? Probably Not. Iger's response:

For more than a decade, Rich Ross’s creative instincts, business acumen and personal integrity have driven results in key businesses for Disney, redefining success in kids and family entertainment and launching franchises that generate value across our entire company. His vision and leadership opened doors for Disney around the world, making our brand part of daily life for millions of people. I appreciate his countless contributions throughout his entire career at Disney, and expect he will have tremendous success in whatever he chooses to do next.

That's not a GTFO statement...more of a "leaving on good terms" statement.

I'm not so sure about that. Iger's statement doesn't seem to be much different from the one he issued after firing Dick Cook:

Throughout his distinguished 38-year Disney career, Dick Cook’s outstanding creative instincts and incomparable showmanship have truly enriched this company and significantly impacted Disney’s great legacy. We thank Dick for his tremendous passion for Disney, and his many accomplishments and contributions to The Walt Disney Studios, including a very promising upcoming film slate. On behalf of everyone at Disney, we wish him the best with all the future has to offer.

Got me thinking as to what Iger's departure statement might say ... Probably "best known for buying a company best known for making Disney movies despite not actually being Disney ... for way too much money."

~I think Disney asked Rich Ross to submit his resignation because of the John Carter debacle! I knew heads were going to roll over John Carter, but I was not expecting something so drastic, they went straight to the top. There is a reason why I am not in business, lol, but I think they should have at least waited to see how the Avengers will do, the previews look fantastic, it could be a huge success and redemption for Ross! Who will replace him?

1) Didn't know the man.
2) Didn't know anything about the man.
3) But, glad the guy got it.
4) It is about time for responsibility.
. . . giant bonuses for good work
. . . zapped for bad work
5) Too much glossing over in large companies.

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

You absolutely nailed it.

There is more to it than Carter. The slide to death started with "Mars Needs Moms".

exactly. Everything about that film was just odd. Why is there a department within Disney doing Pixar like films that isnt Pixar? They've got a tried and tested team within Pixar that produces almost guaranteed success.
