Rich mom hires handicapped tour guide to cut lines

how much is it for a special tour guide??

I hope the disable person that agreed to this is told to never come back to any Disney Park

What I don't understand is if these people are willing to spend that kind of money, why not just get the VIP tour from Disney? Then, it is legitimate and there are no moral issues involved.

This is one of the reasons that I think the GAC needs some work (and I am one that has to use one). I like Universal's system, if the wait time is over a certain length, they scan the equivalent of the GAC when you first get in line and you have to wait the length of the line before going on another attraction.

The problem that they will find is they spend the money to do this and then find out they waited longer than others and complain to Disney, who will legitimately say that this was not their doing.

Additionally, it makes the wait times longer for those of us who do need assistance, which in turn can make the lines longer for everyone.

1) The Premium VIP service costs over twice as much, and doesn't necessarily offer front-of-the-line everywhere.

2) Morals are not an issue with the people being quoted.

None of the GAC's offer "front of the line" anywhere. Unless we're talking a Wish Kid or something similar. Most GAC's allow a different place to wait, and as everyone else has already mentioned, that wait may be slightly shorter, but could be considerably longer than the standby or regular fastpass line.

If we're talking REAL One Percenters here, the cost is not an issue.

I honestly can't believe regular news services picked up this story, the original story ran on the New York Post, which is pretty much the National Enquirer with a nicer sounding name. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/manhattan/disney_world_srich_kid_outrage_zTBA0xrvZRkIVc1zItXGDP

There is a lot of nastiness on the company's FB page. They made a post saying that they were advised by their attorney not to comment.

Just had ask, it there ever a 2 1/2 hour wait for It's a Small World? We were there on Thanksgiving Day and waited only 10 minutes.

I have wondered before if this was done. I thought this was happening the last time we were there, just by the way one particular group acted together.

There have been a lot of rumors lately that some offsite tour guide people have been getting backdoor access to a lot of things. But this is the first I've heard of hiring a disabled guide.

It's the first I have heard of a company doing this, but there are many people on Craigslist who do this, at least for Disneyland. It's sad that they do and I wish Disney would do some sting operations on them and then ban those people from the parks.

I think the company that owns fox own the ny post so that why they covered it and fox 5 news in ny is like a tabloid and anything making Disney look bad they run with it because they don't wont to admit abc dose better then them.

Hmmm. This 99%er does Disney with dignity. And by that, I mean that me and my family, who by the grace of God are all healthy and able-bodied, use FP and/or stand in lines, plan to go when crowd levels are low, and strategize so we minimize time spent in queues.

And when I see someone going to the front of the line, using a GAC, I thank God once again that my kids are healthy and ABLE to stand in a line, and say a prayer for those parents and caretakers as well. I will HAPPILY wait a bit longer in those instances. I'm also thankful that kids and adults who need the GAC are able to get one, so they can enjoy the parks as well. It's not my place to judge whether ppl deserve one--I know that many ppl live with conditions that aren't necessarily visible or obvious. I'll leave it to Disney to police their own policy however they choose to.

Those who would exploit this service insult and hinder those who really need it. Let them live with their own conscience.

This is honestly horrible, and I can't say that I know of a way to stop it, accept tell those that have been caught doing it that they can't come back or some sort of reprimanding, but the vast majority of these people wont get caught.
I use the GAC, and I feel like this almost crushes the legitimacy of it. I go to Disney because I love it, but part of that is that with my illness, I can't just go to a normal theme park and enjoy it because they don't have things like Disney does for those with disabilities. People who do things like this may hinder the service for those who actually need it, and that's not ok.
The GAC system needs to be upgraded or, at the very least, something needs to change. I find this behavior despicable.

While saying that, I really doubt that they waited one minute rather than the 2 and a half hour wait. Really? For Small World? Not likely. I don't even think the line is equipped to deal with that many people.

You said this so well!

They don't say this but I wonder if they used the guides to get through the back door of the bus and get a set before everyone else dose or was that extra the moms had to pay.

Some how I don't see someone proudly from the 1% riding a Disney bus. Or how about the ferry from MK at park close?

Me either but if their at mk they will have to ride one form of transportation so if it the monorail I see them ditching the guide and going on their own so they don't have to wait. But maybe for the kids they would ride the bus and get the cm to load them so they wouldn't miss their chauffeur.

I have seen this with my very eye. Well close to it anyway.

Last yr on our trip in December, we saw three teenage kids. Two male and one female taking pictures in MK. They all where standing up for picuture laughing and smiling. When photo op was over they walked toward us. Next to us was a wheelchair. They stopped and discussed whos turn was it to be pushed. They saw the look on my wife's and I face.

Disney needs to do something about this issue. Doctors note, I dont know. Sicking how people can act. One year I could barely walk due to sprained ankle but I would not use a wheelchair to cut lines.

By federal Ada laws Disney can't not ask or read a dr note they can't ask for proof of disabilities so their really nothing Disney can really do unless they come up with a new gac system. Which I think they my have to after this which would be wrong and ad because it might make it harder for the guest who Really need a gac to get one so their no real clear answer on how Disney can stop the abuse. Yes if they find people doing this they can ban them but when Disney ant ask for proof their no stopping someone else from picking up where they left off.
