Rice seasoning blend

Anyone have any good rice seasoning blends /brands that skip the salt or are low salt?

We love our Indian Basmati Rice but it's a pain getting it from the restaurant & I can't seem to duplicate it, so yummy with those little flecks of I'm not so sure what.

I know there are all those in a box kinds and they are yummy but I am avoiding salt as much as possible so those are out. Guess I'm looking for a favorite blend, like how I can get plain Italian Seasoning or French seasoning blends in a spice jar, only for rice and from different countries.

My Instant Pot does amazing rice and we love chicken broth, ginger & garlic and am hoping for more that are tried and tested, I already have a cabinet full of fails.

Try an international market. Around here we have jungle Jim’s for that kind of stuff.

Thanks, I was hoping someone has a stash of different rice blends and experience. With like 1.38 billion people in India I would have thought some blend brands are favored in the Vegan community, the food is amazing but complicated, same goes for Ethiopian and Middle Eastern. So much rice missing from my home cooking but daunting without blends, McCormick needs to snap to it JKJK

Good Jasmine or Basmati is available from just about any international market. The most likely general-purpose seasoning that an Indian restaurant might put in a rice pot is Garam Masala, plus some salt, of course. As a general rule, I find that sea salt gives more bang for the gram, so less goes further. An all-purpose Creole seasoning such as Slap Ya' Mama will also add flavor to rice; you can buy less-salt versions (though I don't recommend the salt-free options for this unless you really can't have it at all.)

Rice, like potatoes, really needs some salt to bring out the flavor.

When we have Indian foods I add curry powder to the rice before cooking. We get the 25lb bags of basmati from Costco.
