We'll be staying at the Poly with 2 toddlers. We both really enjoy ribs (if they are good, fall of the bone, yummy ones! Could care less to knaw on one if it's tough...) and, as well, we like mussles and clams. Was thinking of going to Cape May Clam Bake dinner (we'll be on the regular dining plan, FYI) and then others suggested maybe Wispering Canyon since it's probably easier to get to than Cape May (from Poly). I have to admit I like the idea of family style (remember - 2 toddlers age 2 and 3) - however then I wonder if the larger variety of food and the mussles/clams make it worth it to go a little out of the way to get to the Cape May Clam Bake.

Any thoughts? Is either one better than the other in terms of Yummilicious ribs? Is the selection at Cape May worth it to go there or would you say the convenience of the closer proximity to Poly and Familiy Style instead of buffet makes it better to go to WCC?

HELP! What should we do?!

Should also add....not sure how DH will take to the antics I hear about at WCC. He said if someone dares to bring him 8 bottles of ketchup he's going to ask what they heck their problem is.

Oh and am I missing any better options? I've also contemplated Mickey's Backyard BBQ - but not sure if that's smart to do (outside) in early December or not. I don't want to shiver to death eating my ribs!

Thanks!

I don't have an answer for you, but wanted to btt for evening posters.

I will say that the BYB isn't the best option for great ribs. It's purely mass production, not quality oriented. A great time, tho. :)

I love Cape May's pork ribs...They are so tender the meat just falls off the bone.

Plus OREO BON BONS...YUMMM :worship:

Forgot to add...

Trail's End Buffet at Fort Wilderness also has wonderful pork ribs....

Good question...Ribs at Cape May are "wet ribs" or ribs covered with BBQ sauce. Very good and we love the selection of salads and other great stuff at Cape May.
WC ribs are "dry ribs" or ribs served without BBQ sauce but rubbed and coated with flavoring and served dry...they are excellent, but very different from Cape May...I love em both, though.
I may be mistaken but I think you only get ribs at WC if you order the all you can eat BBQ dinner that includes pulled pork, chicken, ribs, and brisquet. You can eat all the ribs you want, but it comes with all the other goodies. Maybe someone will correct me if you can order just ribs.

enjoy....and it does get a little loud at WC. You could request seating in the far end of the restaurant that is a lot quieter.

FYI, Cape May is not that far out your way if you have a rental car...We do Cape May on a night we are at Epcot or Boardwalk. Just Park at Boardwalk (valet for 11 bucks for the entire day!) and you can do Epcot, Cape May at the Beach Club, and Boardwalk all within easy walking distance.

If you decide to go to Whispering Canyon but don’t want to be seated in the middle of the majority of the antics, request the “back porch area” when you make your ADR. This area is past the drink station nearer the Pin Stand. We (Myself, DD age 12, and a family friend) had dinner at WCC in March and were seated in that section. Our server was “SmokinSam”. He was very funny and made lots of noise with the tray stand anytime he delivered anything. He did the napkin toss and the straw fling with us but that was it. He did do “ketchup” for the table beside us but asked first.

From the food perspective, all three of us ordered an AYCD milkshake and the AYCE skillet. The ribs were very good and the peel and eat shrimp had a BBQ flavor. I personally loved the pulled pork – it was not too fatty but cooked until it was “stringy”. In addition to the meats, the skillet contained mashed potatoes, baked beans, and corn on the cob. We felt guilt because we wasted so much food from the first serving (the photo of the skillet are our leftovers). We were also too full to order any dessert. The ribs had a rub discussed above and we were given BBQ sauce on the side.

Skillet:

I have not eaten dinner at Cape May for at least 4 years so my experience there is limited.
