We enjoyed the ribs and pulled pork at flame tree bbq. Can you tell me how the ones at whispering canyon compare? Do they have a real smoker and do it right?

Thanks

Michelle

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge in March. It was a last minute trip during spring break so we just had to take what we could get. We had a room overlooking an employee work area, that's the best I can describe it. There was a small building back there that said smokehouse on it and they had wood sitting outside. Honestly I never once smelled anything coming from the smokehouse, no smoke smell or cooking meat smell, but it was there.

I'm not sure how they do it, but Whispering Canyon has DELISH pulled pork and ribs. finger lick'n good!

Thanks for the replies. I am concerned because I have never smelled smoke at the lodge (a good thing for all other reasons), and one reviewer mentioned a liquid smoke taste.... which yuck. So good to know there is a smoke house.

I am not a big fan of ribs and pulled pork but I thought they were very good and I would definately go back for more. The only meat I didn't like was the brisket.

I liked the ribs. I had the lunch skillet so I only had ribs/chicken/sausage. I didn't try the sausage, and the chicken was so-so.

When they first brought out the ribs they were just with the dry rub and sauce on the side. I thought they were very good. I asked for more, and they came with sauce. I would definitely request no sauce (or on the side), the rub was quite nice and it didn't need a lot of sauce.

Oh, I wanted to add that the sides were very good. Excellent beans and slaw. The cornbread was delish. I didn't like the mashed potatoes but they will sub for fries, and since so many folks rave about the mashed potatoes I think I hit them on an off day.

I really like Flame Tree but Whispering Canyon is really awesome. The ribs and the pulled pork are so good, and I also love the beans and BBQ sauce.

we have had the skillet twice. the first time the ribs and everything was delicious. we LOVED the mashed potatoes. the second time we went the ribs were too fatty to eat so we just ate the rest of the stuff and were too full anyways so we didnt ask for more. At Flame Tree i have always had excellent ribs, they can be greasy but atleast not fatty.
The first time i had ribs at Sci-Fi they were cooked in "Coca Cola" and they were not fatty at all.. oh they were great. Since then i have gotten them 2x there and both times they have been fatty.
