Ribbed tank tops?

Can you use an iron on an a ribbed tank top?

I've never tried, but I'm thinking that you can't. Once I ironed a corner of my design over the ribbed edge of the pillowcase I was using to protect the countertop, and it made a blemish in the transfer paper. Hard to describe, but I don't think it would come out.

i just did one the other day and it looks fine, but not sure how it will 'stretch' once i wear it, but they do have the transfer paper that stretches that gets great reviews on here
I will tell you, the iron on has a bit of the ribbed texture, but hardly noticeable at all
