My MIL has had some serious health issues in the past. 20 years ago she had a horrible case of lupus that almost ended her life several times. she ended up on dialysis and finally a kidney transplant. ever since the transplant she has been doing wonderfully. She's on a ton of meds, but no signs of lupus or anything. the kidney, even 20 years later, is doing wonderfully.
unfortunately in the last several months she hasn't been doing very well. She had a dr.'s appt. a week ago and will go back 3/1 for the results of the tests they did. She wanted to know face to face or she'd probably already know the outcome. Her dr. is pretty sure one of 2 things is happening...either the lupus is coming back or she is developing rheumatoid arthritis. Neither is good news. She's only 52 years old, and I just feel so bad. my dh, her only, is scared, too, although he pretends not to be.
I'm curious as to any non-meds options for treating rheumatoid arthritis. My MIL will not be a candidate for other meds due to the ones she is currently on. I know meds can be wondeful with rhumatoid arthritis but are there other choices, other therapys, that might help if this is indeed the case?
I appreciate any help or advice. I wish I could do a lot of on-line research but unfortunately I am on bedrest for PIH with twins right now and my sit-up time is minimal.
TIA!!!
