Rhode Island (or SE Mass) DISers!

There is a chance that we may be relocating to the Providence, RI area. I am interested in doing a little bit of research on housing prices, etc. but I have no idea where to look.

What are some good areas? I am looking for a place with good schools, nice neighborhoods, etc. No dangerous areas, LOL! Also, SE Mass would be good - he just needs to be a reasonable distance for the Port of Providence.

I grew up in Massachusetts, and lived in NH for ten years but was always North of Boston, so I have no idea where to look. Thanks!

I grew up in South County, so I guess it depends upon what else you might be looking for in a community - I love being near the beaches and the commute to Providence is never more than 40 minutes from anywhere in the state!

My vote is for North Kingstown or East Greenwich - nice central spot - with awesome schools (imho).

Ya, but being in RI you can get to a beach pretty easy no matter where you are i guess, since you can travel the state in like an hour.. LOL
But, i hear ya,i am about 2 min. from my town beach, and 15 min from a "big" beach, and i love it.. i love being able to drive over the bridge to aquidneck island everyday for work and seeing the water -- it's just so beautiful! However, i could definately do without this COLD. LOL
