We are arriving on June 23 at 4pm. We should get to SSR by about 530 and I'm sure DS13, DN9 & DN15 will want to hit the pool as quickly as possible once we get settled. DW, DSIL, and I would like to mosey down to DTD at some point that evening. My question is whether we should get dinner at the Rainforest Cafe that night and whether we should get reservations??? :confused3

I don't think they take reservations at the one in downtown disney, I know they take ressies at the AK, and you have to book this one on the 180 day.

i woudn't waste my time going. It really is nothing more than average chain food, albeit with a cool theme.

I would HIGHLY suggest reservations @ DDD Rainforest Cafe. I had them on my recent visit this May and was glad I did because there was a HUGE wait of people milling around waiting to be called to their table. A family in front of me as I was checking in at the podium for my ADR was told it would be a 45 minute wait. We really enjoyed the Rainforest Cafe. It was on our down day from the parks, etc. We did the BBB for dd and then ds and dh went to see Indiana Jones at the theater and we shopped at all the wonderful stores :) It gets pretty crowded especially towards the evening/dinner hour so I would suggest you call the DDD Rainforest directly and make your reservation. Here are some pics from the Rainforest Cafe from our trip. Goodluck and have fun :) :)

Yes they do take reservations @ the one in DDD. That is the one we went to. Again, as I stated in my other reply, I would highly recommend getting an ADR because DDD can get REALLY busy, especially at nightime/dinner hours and if you don't have one, you might end up waiting 45 mins or more like I saw ALOT of people doing. There were people everywhere standing around waiting to get seated and the inside was totally packed full.

Yes they do take reservations @ the DDD one. That is the one we went to and like I said in my other reply, DDD gets very busy at nightime/dinnertime so I wouldn't take a chance on not having an ADR unless you want to wait or you luck out and don't have to wait but when we were there, people were standing outside everywhere waiting to be seated. The inside was totally jammed packed with people. Very popular and busy place.
Better safe to make an ADR than to have to be disappointed waiting to be seated. Since we had an ADR already, we waited only like 5 mins from the time we were called to when we were seated and the inside was a madhouse of people and others that were there when I arrived were still standing around.

If you have a Rainforest Cafe already where you live, then it wouldn't be a place you would go but like our family, we don't have one of these anywhere even close to where we live, so it was a real treat for our family and especially our kids. They wanted to go, so we did it for them :) It was good food and a fun atmosphere. Sometimes people drive ya nuts with their expectations of the food @ Disney. It is just as good as Applebees, Bennigans, O'Charley's, Olive Garden, etc. etc...............Difference with this one that takes it apart from your average chain is the theming. Just a neat concept and when I looked around at the other places to eat at DDD the day we were there, the Rainforest Cafe was where all the people were at. I say give it a try. If I would have listened to the mixed reviews on half the places we ate at while @ Disney, I would have missed out on some cool places. If it attracts you enough to be curious about eating there, STICK with it and try it for yourself :)

Thanks for the replies Fairy Dust!!! I booked a reservation for party of 6 at 730!!! Can't wait to get there!!!! (BTW I have been to both of the RFCs in Disney and enjoy the atmosphere- This trip is the first for one of my nephews, who is autistic; he loves wildlife so I'm sure he will be thrilled!!!):thumbsup2
