Rez for 4 when it's 4 adults and a 3 yr old?

Would it be ok to make a reservation for 4 (if that's all I can find) for BOG lunch and have the child sit in a lap or pull up another chair? What about 'Ohana dinner (I feel like this may especially not be ok here)? Figured it was worth asking.

No, sorry it's not. It's not about the number of seats available, it's also about fire code. Your reservations need to be for 5 people (even if it was a newborn instead of a 3 year old).

Ok thanks for the info! Was hoping for more options. So over the lack of availability.

You could always keep your reservation for a party of 4 then look for a reservation for 1 around the same time since you seat yourself at BOG lunch.

This issue is becoming more and more common and now Disney has sent notice to front line CMs to turn away any extra people. A lot of people are having the issue you are 4 available but 5 needed or 2 available but 3 need etc. They book what they get and then say "Omg we didn't know so and so was coming can they join us?" or "He's so small we thought he didn't count". It has become a big issue so reports have been that they are not as accommodating to additions any more.

Try looking for 6 instead of 5. Sometimes the system won't pull a reservation for the odd numbers but has no problem with the evens. You won't be charged a fee for the 6th person not showing so no harm no foul if the system doesn't want to see that 5 people would need at least a 6 top anyways so it isn't like you are taking a seat from a stranger.

I had seen this idea of splitting before but had forgotten, thanks! Wish I even had a reservation for 4for the day I want to need to add the 1 to but as of right I've got nada.

I get the adding extra people with extra chairs required being an issue but was hoping that if she sat in a lap it may not matter. I see why it's still an issue now though.

I have had some success with booking 6 instead for other days but was trying to think even more outside the box for the ones that I'm having a harder time getting.

Yes, the suggestion to look for 6 is a good idea too. As long as 1 of you shows up it will not charge you a no show fee for the 6th person. What month are you looking for? We are going in 1 month and our time has been especially hard to get ADRs for. We were able to make our reservations at 180 days out and we still didn't get everything we want. I'm looking for 1 last reservation now and it's tough.

Looking for dates starting on the 7th of January. Was only able to try to get ADRs about 4 months out because that's when I knew we were going/dates. I moved the trip up by 3 days a few days ago to avoid MLK weekend and take on marathon weekend instead and that made things worse with ADRs of course.
