This weekend I met a woman who, of all things, is a timeshare saleswoman. In my clumsy attempt to make conversation, I told her about how I just joined the DVC. We talked for quite a while, and landed on a discussion about the amazing number of rules the different states have on selling timeshare (I am still working on my witty party conversation). She explained that some states allow you to give rewards (prizes, money) for referring a person who becomes a member, and some don't allow it at all.
She then explained that the DVC gets around these rules by letting people from non-reward states pick up their rewards when they come to Florida. She said that it surprised her that the DVC was doing this because it could get expensive, but that this is a good way to make the Members happy.
This is all still new to me, but did you all know that people from non-reward states can still get their referral reward? It really does not affect me because I live in Florida, but just in case anyone did not know this, it might be worth a try.
