After you apply for a rewards card, how long should you wait before adding your rewards. Can you add them all at once? How long before they expire? Thanks! We are going in March and I have not applied for a rewards card yet. Wanted to wait until Feb. to add points if that's quick enough. :hourglass

If you mean Disney Visa rewards, you should order the card 2 months prior with whatever rewards are available. You will get that in about 2 weeks. I believe the expiration date will be at least one year away. Then just before you leave you can transfer any other points you have accumulated. The transfer will happen almost immediately.

I just ordered my new one two weeks ago because my current card expires on 12/31/05. I don't have the new card yet, but in checking online, the new one shows my balance (which was $20 which they transferred) and expiration of 12/31/06. We are going to WDW Jan. 15, so I wanted to make sure I had it well in advance and was able to add all my rewards on it.

Now I just have to spend the remaining $11 on the old one before it expires. Shouldn't be too hard.

So if I go ahead and get my rewards card now, the rewards I have added will still be good in March? Each time you have to get a new card it costs you $10? It doesn't cost to transfer the reward points does it?

It didn't cost me anything to get the rewards card - the first time or this time.

If you have a rewards card now, with a balance on it, check the exp date. If it says 12/05, then it expires on 12/31/05. If your credit card statement shows that you have reward dollars, do not transfer those to your existing card. Request a new card. I believe that you need a minimum of $20 in reward dollars to get a new card.

There is no charge to transfer the points once you have the card.

I only have the disney visa but when I got on line to request a rewards card, it looked like they would charge $10!!! I guess I'll just call. Thanks!

I was planning on getting a Disney Visa, not only for the 25 dollars but to earn me points to use during my trip in January... I do have questions though.. like

Is it worth it? well i be able to earn enough points from now til then for it to be worth it?

What kind of points do I get and how do I earn then (meaning does it matter what I buy with the card?)

what do I use them for and how do I use them? I've never used a credit card that gives me rewards, just debts :rotfl:

I'm planning on applying by the end of the week but I wanted to know more and hear some feeback on the issue.

Thx

1. Is it worth it--depends on how much you charge and if you are able to pay your balance off in full every month. If you carry a balance no reward will be big enought o overcome the finance charges. I charge everyting I can and pay off the balance at the end of every month--the rewards I earn are then a bonus that didn't cost me anything.
2. you get one point per one hundred dollars you charge with a cap of 750 reward points per calander year. Sometimes they have bonus' but that is never consistent for each member. My account was never offered a bonus, DH's account ws offered bonus points on specific category expendatures over $2000 per month.
3. with the DIsney Visa you can use your Disney rewards to purchase things at DL, WDW and Disney Direct--I'm not sure if you can use them at the Disney store anymore. We use ours to cover the cost of some meals and one PAP while on vacation.

There are reward cards that offer more/better rewards, but this is a reward we use,so for us it fits all of our current needs.

1 Point for every $100, that sure doesn't seem like a deal, how many points does it take to even amount to something.

I might just do it for the 25 gift card (for my hotel mug) and I was thinking of pulling my trip on it because it has a 6 months no interest, but do I not receive my points if it's not paid off? That'll be a bummer because I was going to use my 'income tax' check to pay it off.

I could just use if for my "normal" monthly charges at wal mart but that'll give me MAYBE 4 points a month... big woop?
