Just back from 9 days in the World. “We” are me, my Hubby Dave, my Brother John, Sister-in-law Barb, her Mom Shirley, and my Nephew Harry (3.5). Here are some more reviews:

Fulton’s Crab House: This brief review is from Barb, since she, John, Harry and Shirley met up with Grant, Christine and Julia for dinner one night. They were all very underwhelmed. Prices were outrageous (she mentioned an entrée over $40), portions and preparation unimpressive. The kids were miserable. All were sorry they went there.

Donald’s Breakfastosaurus: This got a bug thumbs up from everyone. We had a PS for 8:20 but arrived at AK early, so we were in before the rope drop. We checked in with very nice and welcoming CMs, and were called shortly thereafter. Our server was Billy and he was terrific. Very warm, funny and attentive. We were seated close to the cold buffet and a short walk to the hot buffet. Billy explained that it was best to get the food right away, as the characters would be coming out soon and he gave us their order of appearance.

The food selection was wonderful—everything was hot, fresh and appetizing. Quiche, apple crisp, cheesy potatoes (extra yummy), biscuits, bacon, sausage, breakfast pizza, crumbcake, fruit, yogurt, granola, etc. The hot food was hot and the cold food was cold, just as it should be. Nothing was dry or overcooked. A note about the bacon—some was crispy, some was more limp, and some was just right for me—I know people are fussy about how they like their bacon, and there was definitely some for every taste!

We loaded up our plates, headed back to our table and dug in. Billy brought a carafe of fresh OJ and one of coffee (unfortunately, it was the usual Nescafe, although it was a bit stronger than some places serve, so there was a hint of coffee flavor!).

Mickey was the first character out and he was great. I was the first to wish him a happy birthday and he was very pleased. He posed for all the pictures we wanted before moving to the next table. Next was Pluto—I complimented his bandana and he licked me! Goofy and Donald came next. I told Donald he was great in PhilharMagic and he loved it. All the characters were wonderful and we adults were just as thrilled as Harry was.

We had plenty to eat and drink, the atmosphere was great (we loved the tool boxes on the tables loaded with utensils, napkins and crayons), Billy was very entertaining and I give it an A. My only disappointment was the absence of Chip n Dale—my favorites.

Mexico Cantina: Our breakfast food orgy lasted through most of the day. Since we had an Illuminations Cruise scheduled with other DISers that night, we decided to grab counter service in Epcot. Unfortunately, since a couple people were real hungry, we stopped at the Cantina in Mexico.

This was the worst “food” I have ever had in WDW and one of the worst meals I have had in my entire life. I had the combo—I don’t even remember what it was supposed to be, but it was barely lukewarm and very tasteless. There was a cold tortilla getting hard around the edges with a congealed filling that tasted like American cheese. Some sort of mystery meat taco that was very bland. Hubby Dave had a taco salad and it was barely edible. No one was remotely satisfied with their food, and I would have taken it back for a refund but we were in a rush and Harry was very “impatient” at that point.

We will skip this place forever. They were not even trying.

50’s Primetime Café: What a fabulous and memorable lunch we had here. “Mom and Cousin Dave” kept us on our toes with warnings about elbows on the table. A tattletale from the next table was forced to stand in the corner. Everyone was having a blast.

We ordered cocktails with those fun flashing ice cubes (you get to keep them—turn them off when not in use and they will last). The Scooter’s Long Island Ice Teas were more fun than buzz-worthy, but we enjoyed. We were starving so we ordered big: fries with gravy (not my thing, but the others loved them), onion rings with horseradish dip (best I have ever had, thin, hot, not too greasy), and the trout dip (also not for me, but the others raved). Most of us had the pot roast (very good, real mashed spuds), Hubby Dave had the fried chicken. All plates were cleaned. John ordered the apple cobbler for dessert, Barb and Shirley had sundaes, Harry had a cute kid’s sundae, and Dave and I split the brownie sundae. Be warned—brownie sundae is enormous and I am embarrassed to report that we finished it. Yum yum!!! An A+ from everyone.

Stay tuned, more to come!

Your 50s meal sounds yummy. I am sooooooooo looking forward to the pot roast there!

What did your hubby think of the fried chicken at the 50s Primetime Cafe? I've read some pretty favorable comments about it, and I wondered what he thought.

We are doing Breakfastosaurus on 12/10 so appreciated your review on what to look for. Thanks for posting::yes:: :wave2:

Great reviews, thanks again for sharing!! :)

We had a bad experience at Breakfastasaurus, but I've read so many good reviews like yours, that we may have to give it another shot.

Pat: My Hubby loved his fried chicken--he left nothing but bare bones on his plate!

Slp87: Seems like the key to Breakfastosaurus is an early PS. I was a bit concerned about a few negative posts, but my Sister-in-law really wanted to try it. We had an 8:20 but arrived before 8 and were among the first called in. Great food, service and character interaction for us, but it is a big place and I can see how things would get crazy when more crowded.

Yea! I am soooo glad to hear the fried chicken is good, Barbe and Allison!! I haven't had any fried chicken since I started doing low carb about 10 months ago. I think this will be my one treat when we go. . . well . . . that and maybe a Mickey bar. :teeth:

Thank you for the reviews! I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience at the Cantina. I guess it depends on the staff at the time or something since we've had lunch there a couple of times and the food was hot and we all enjoyed it. I too would not be happy with luke warm Mexican food. I hate to think that the counter service places food gets worse and more neglected towards closing time since you would hope they'd be consistent, but I'm beginning to wonder.
