First post here:)

Going to DW in one week. Saw reviews for many other resorts, but not for the All-Star Movies. Any reviews, tips, or suggestions??

Welcome to the Dis!

After 3 stays there, we are big fans of ASMO!

I think the theming here just screams "Disney!". The rooms arent huge, but they have been fine for us, even when we had 3 adults, a child & and infant in a room.

We love the convenience of the food court and everything there has always been very good(pastries are so fresh in the morning, and love the taco salad).

We have always had great bus service, and friendly and helpful CMs.

Be sure to walk around the resort as there are many great photo ops around. If you end up staying in the Mighty Ducks section, you are just about as close to the bus stop at ASMU as you are to ASMO. We would get on and off the busses there because getting on first we would have a better chance at a seat, and getting off, it was sooner.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we do. :D

My first post too but I'll give it a try.

We stayed at All Star Movies for 5 nights in May. We had only a short wait to check in and it went very smoothly. Besides myself, there was my sister and 2 nephews - 5 &7. Neither my sister or myself could be considered small but we felt the room adequate for the 4 of us.

We were in a 1st floor room in the Mighty Ducks bldg. We were at first disappointed with this because we had requested Toy Story (but I think most everyone does.) This turned out to be a great location!! It was very quiet and close to the Mighty Ducks pool. My nephews loved this pool and it was rarely crowded. The cm at check in pointed out that our room was actually closer to the All Star Music food court and bus stop. It was just a short (less than 5 minute) walk to the busses. We rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus at Music. The one time we used the Movie bus stop, we waited 15 minutes and had to stand all the way to the park.

We ate at the food court every morning and most evenings. It could be a little crazy in the morning with everyone trying to eat at the same time but we never had trouble finding a table. We thought the breakfast prices were a little high for the quality but it was quick and easy. We could always find something the boys were willing to eat and they are very picky eaters. We got the refillable mugs but they turned out to be more trouble than they were worth. If we took them to breakfast, I either wound up with them in my backpack all day or I had to run them back to the room before we got on the bus.

We actually ended up spending more time at the resort than we were planning on due to the heat and crowds in the park. The boys would be begging to go back to the hotel and swim! Only complaint, I wish they had towels at the pool. We went through a lot of towels and also had a mess of wet ones in our room.

We stayed at Music in September and while it was nice, it wasn't as "Disney" to me. It seemed more grown up. We are planning a trip again this September and the boys already want to stay by the hockey pool.

we stayed there in september and it was great! there were 8 of us so we had 2 rooms with a connecting door. we had 4 kids ranging from 3-9 and four adults. the rooms were very quiet and comfortable and the mousekeeping did a great job. we stayed in the fantasia building and the pool was right outside the doors as well as the food court. food was a tad expensive but i expected that, it being disney and all. food was good and the parks were nice and quiet at that time, no waits for anything. every day since we have come home my dd (now four) has asked when we're going back to our hotel lol. i've booked a trip for this coming sept and we're staying at CBR my mom wanted to know why since the ASMo was perfect but i just want to try out all the different locations! lol you'll have a fantastic time and i wish it was me going!

We stayed at ASMo in Oct. 2 Adults & 2 children (10 & 4) and found the room size manageable so long as we kept it reasonably tidy. Can't comment on the buses as we used our car. The food court was fine but like previously said it could get very manic in the mornings and breakfast was a bit overpriced but its convenient. We stayed in the Love Bug building which at first we were disappointed about (obviously we wanted Toy Story) but I would now actually request this building as it was still a convenient walk to all the amenities but just far enough away to be nice and quiet. We can't compare it to other onsite resorts as this was the first time onsite for us but we loved it and are planning to go back this Oct.

WELCOME!!!!! :hyper: :wave2:

We stayed there in 2001 and enjoyed it. We were in the Buzz building and found it close to everything.

I stayed here (in the Dalmations Blg) several years ago - it was my 1st time staying on site, and I LOVED it!!!!

We had breakfast there every morning (except for the morning we did a character breakfast).....not a bad selection. Did lunch I think only 1 or 2 times, and only a few dinners......quite convenient tho.

We had about a 10 minute wait when we got there to checkin, but once up at the counter the CM was great.

I would recommend this happily (and the AS Music too - but if you have little ones, they will probably prefer the Movies).

Have a great time!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

My husband and I just stayed at All-Star Movies in November. It was our first time there as just a couple (we had previously stayed there with our two teenagers, and also three times at All-Star Music, so obviously we have enjoyed the value resorts!) However, this time I was less than pleased with the hotel. We were upgraded to a preferred room in Fantasia 2000, I didn't like this section at all (had requested Toy Story or Dalmations)...we were given a connecting room and could hear the baby crying through the connecting door each evening around 2 a.m. The most disappointing thing, though, was the housekeeping. The room was not kept clean, not vacuumed, saw a few bugs in the room..yuck!...and on several mornings, the housekeepers were trying to get into the room before we were out of there. One morning, my husband went to the food court to get coffee and I was in the bathroom and the housekeeper was actually coming in the bathroom! And this was pretty early in the morning! Don't get me wrong, for the price, you get a place to sleep on Disney property, the bus service to the parks, the theming is kind of fun (although I wasn't fond of the Fantasia jack-in-the-box thingie!), huge pools, etc. It's just after having stayed at the values before, and having MUCH better experiences, I kind of expected more!

If you put the "Do not disturb" thing in the door the Mousekeepers will not try to come in. If it stays there awhile they will hang a bag with clean towels, soap, toilet paper etc on the outside of the door.

I've done Music once and Movies several times. I always request the third floor so that you don't hear the pitter patter of little, or big , feet above you. Also bugs are lazy and usually don't make it to the third floor.

Mousekeeping has always been great. If you ever have a problem with that again call the front desk and nicely let them know. Don't wait a couple of days to see if it improves.

My last trip, Dec/Jan, is the only time I have not had a room with a connecting door. It was great. I never heard anything. I also request the back side of the buildings so that I don't hear the pool at midnight.

Thanks for all the great reviews.

Do people go swimming down there even this time of year. I been looking and it gets down to the higher 50s at nighttime.

Went to ASMo in Nov and it was great. We had a third floor room that was a heck of a walk with all of our luggage but it was fairly quiet and private. Never had a problem with mousekeeping and in fact were pleased that if we did call about something(i.e. extra pillows)they were at our door within five minutes! The room was big enough for the four of us and I really liked that the sink/mirror was outside the bathroom. So one person could do their hair or brush their teeth while another took a shower and got dressed. If we get a chance to go to WDW again, we will stay there. For a family with a limited budget, it is really the place to stay if you want to be onsite.

We are all adults and have stood at all the All-Stars and Movies is our favorite. Wev have only stood at Toy Story. I never realized it was so popular. Must be the Woody and Buzz figures aliong with "Andy's Room door". The only erason I won't be staying there next time is because I want to try Pop Century but then I'm sure I'll be back at Movies. The rooms are great, especially for the amount of time we spend in them.
Highly Recommended!!!

Don't tell Eisner-he'll up the prices! We prefer AS Movies because we find it the most Disney themed resort. We have only stayed at the Value resorts, but this is by choice. We were given opportunities to stay at the moderates for a great discount (special rates for NYPD after 9/11, AP rates, etc), but just couldn't justify the switch. There is always $ to be saved at the AS, and the room is comfie for 2 adults and 2 kids. We could've saved a few $ last Oct by staying at the AS Music, but loved the theming of the AS Movies enough to forgo the 100. or so difference at the time. Love the big dalmation statues, the Mickey statues, etc. There'll be plenty of future trips to stay at the "better" resorts!

<<If you put the "Do not disturb" thing in the door the Mousekeepers will not try to come in. If it stays there awhile they will hang a bag with clean towels, soap, toilet paper etc on the outside of the door.>>

Actually, the first night we were there was the ONLY time we even saw a "do not disturb" sign. We put it on the door and then the following morning, it was gone. I didn't see any of them on ANY doors at the hotel the whole week we were there...makes me wonder if the housekeeping staff didn't want them to be used???!!!

Tried to quote this with previous reply...this is what I was responding to...we didn't get any "do not disturb" signs except for very first day...kind of hard to put them out when you don't have them!!!

We stayed at All Star Movies Thanksgiving Week 2000 in the Buzz Building. We loved our stay there. The bus service was excellent. The kids enjoyed the pool (which was very close to our room). The food court, laundry room and bus stop were all close by too. The kids enjoyed the arcade. The hotel was packed that week, but we were never disturbed by loud guests at night. Housekeeping kept our rooms nice and clean. We would definately stay at All Star Movies again.

Again, I feel a need to respond to this. Like I posted previously, we have stayed at Music three times and this was our second stay at Movies. We have always had a ground floor room, and except for this most recent stay at Movies, have never experienced a problem with bugs!! I don't believe I should have to be on the third floor in order to avoid bugs in my hotel room! And, in the past, I would agree the housekeeping has been pretty good....but this last trip did leave a bit to be desired! We had a fruit loop on the floor when we checked in that was there for three days until I moved it out from under the bed! The mirror was full of spots that never were cleaned off. There were other things, too, that I just didn't expect when staying at a Disney hotel. I am wondering if the All-Stars have just gotten too busy to keep up, especially with the cut-backs at Disney??
