Priority Seatings

RFC at AK
Used one adult and one child voucher. Appetizers were chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks which were shared by our girls for their meals. They ate nearly all of it except disliked the coconut sauce for the chicken. Their drink was a blue freezie thing served in a huge thermos to keep. Dh ordered the steak and lobster which he thought was the best steak he’d ever had. The lobster didn’t suit him. He’d have rather had shrimp! I ordered the crab cakes which were outstanding! We all shared the Volcano dessert which ended up being our favorite dessert of the entire trip (and we had several!). A great bargain when you figure the meal was about $100 but only cost us about $40 in vouchers!

Cinderella’s Royal Table Breakfast
The food was good for the most part but we weren’t blown away by anything. We were paying for the Princesses, of which we saw Cinderella, Belle, Snow White, Mary Poppins, and Aurora. Interaction was nice, but hurried. We had a lousy table, right off the elevator, with a pillar obscuring our view of the main dining area. Our girls were happy, though, so we won’t complain. We had hot food that served its purpose of filling our bellies, and a room of Princesses.

Whispering Canyon Café Breakfast
I knew to anticipate a loud, boisterous room but hadn’t prepared my older daughter for it. I didn’t plan on her being upset by it but I should have. She’s a sensitive child who took the pranks seriously and really thought the waitress was being mean and rude to the guests. After I dried the tears and reassured her it was all fun she began to enjoy it. The food was real down home type country cooking. Dh and I both had the all-you-can-eat platter of which my favorite was the biscuits and gravy. Dh enjoyed all of it and asked for seconds—which he didn’t finish, and got scolded for! DD 7 had the child’s pancakes which were tasty. DD 2 just nibbled from the adults’ plates.

Liberty Tree Tavern Character Dinner

We had great character interaction with Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Chip and Dale each visiting our table three times. DD 7 was laughing at the characters as she asked them questions and watching their answers! Minnie and Pluto really scored big points with their funny business! The food was good and plentiful, just not as great as I’d hoped. I thought the turkey was very dry, and the roast beef not to my liking. The ham was fine. The mashed potatos, stuffing, and macaroni were all fine, but nothing special. The rolls and butter were the highlights of the meal for me! The apple crisp was good, but not like my mom makes, which tars my view of anyone else’s! DD 7 is such a terribly picky eater that she wasn’t eating anything on her plate. I asked the waiter if there was any way to round up a grilled cheese for her and he said it could be done! He returned with a grilled cheese, fries, and grapes just for her. He said it happens quite often and not to worry about it. What a lifesaver he was! We thanked him with a very generous tip!

Counter service—

POP food court—we liked the fried chicken and mashed potatos very much. The meatloaf was alright but I wouldn’t order it, or their burgers and fries again. Their twinkie tiramisu and tye dye cheesecakes were really good. The peanut butter cake, carrot cake, and marshmallow cheesecake tasted like grocery store packaged desserts. Nothing special.

Beaches and Cream—an amazing value with the vouchers. We returned twice. Loved the burgers! Onion rings were really big but awfully greasy. Fries were good, better with chili and cheese on them! Desserts—ah, the stars of the show! The No Way Jose is outstanding! The strawberry shortcake was alright, but nothing compared to the Jose.

Earl of Sandwich—really good sandwiches. I had the spinach/chicken creation. Dh had the Montagu. DD 7 had a grilled cheese. All were delicious! The only downside was the line of people waiting to order. But having heard so many good things about Earl we waited it out and were pleased that we had.

Ghirardelli—I had a buy one, get one free coupon for sundaes. We ordered the hot fudge brownie one and the carmel one. Dh loved the brownie in his sundae. I felt both sundaes were equal to what I can make at home with vanilla ice cream and smucker’s toppings.

Yakitori—had the combination platter. Didn’t care for the beef. Liked the chicken. The shrimp was alright. Chestnut cake was blah. Won’t return her. Just wasn’t our taste.

Tangerine Café—Had the combination platter. Loved the chicken. Dh really liked the lamb. The couscous salad was better than I expected. The baklava was dry and one bite of it was more than enough for us. Dh had baklava in Kosovo that was truly authentic, moist, and delicious. He’d hoped for the same in this café but was disappointed.

Cantina in Mexico—had the combination platter. It was all really good, hot and fresh. Not any different than what you get in a Mexican restaurant back home, but when you’re hungry this hits the spot nicely. Dh enjoyed their rainbow margarita.

Restaurantosaurus—had lunch here. Standard McD’s food. Nothing more to say.

Various snacks along the way—

Norway bakery—loved the School Bread!!! I’m definitely getting another when I return to the world next month! Didn’t care for the Liefe (sp?) at all. Dh enjoyed the chocolate pound cake.

France bakery—we always love their cheesecake and this trip we weren’t disappointed! I also tried a chocolate chippy croissant type thing that had a cream filling in the center. It was amazing! I can’t recall the name of it but I’ll know what to look for next trip. It’s long and rectangular with chocolate chips sprinkled on the top.

Italy—at the stand outside the pavilion dh had a tiramisu which he said was excellent. I had some vanilla pudding/custard thing which was alright, but I probably wouldn’t order it again.

China—we had a couple egg rolls. Good, hot, tasty.

Germany—bratwurst. Hot and good, but we didn’t care for the bread it was served with. Brats taste so much better served on rye bread, something we learned from living in the Bratwurst capital of the US in Ohio! We’re partial to the brats there.

England—fish and chips. Greasy, hot and GOOD!!

Turkey leg in MK—rubbery and lukewarm. Smelled wonderful, tasted terrible.

Mickey ice cream bars—both times DELICIOUS!

At MVMCP—free cookies and cocoa—perfect on a cool night!

Starring rolls at MGM—cinnamon roll. Huge and tasteless. Waste of money.

Boardwalk bakery—cinnamon roll. Huge and AWESOME. Worth twice the money!

Thanks for the wonderful review!! I took notes and plan to snack at some of these places!! :earboy2:

Thanks for your reviews. I have to try Beaches and cream one of these days. I just tried the school bread too and loved it!!

Bratwurst capitol?? You mean Sheboygen Wisconsin right???..lol.....

No, actually a small town in Ohio claims to be the Bratwurst Capital of the US--Bucyrus, Ohio. They have a huge brat fest every August. It was a real treat living in this small town for 3 years!
