My husband and I just returned from renting WH2 Neptune (2781 Almaton Loop / Suite 202 ), that I booked from Connie Richards at Rent Sunny Florida. I wouldn't recommend it.

There was a serious tile-buckling, squishy floor problem in front of the master bedroom, making it a problem to stay in that room. We didn't want to trip over the tile or make the problem worse and possibly be blamed for something we didn't do, so we stayed in the second bedroom.

There was very little toilet paper, dishwashing soap, or napkins available. I realize that most people are coming to stay in these units for longer than a weekend (our stay was 3 nights), but a few of these things would have been helpful. It wasn't reasonable to be expected to buy these supplies that we couldn't possibly have used even half of, kwim?

There wasn't a battery in the smoke detector in our bedroom. Major problem.

I reported these issues to Connie and she acted surprised. I don't think they had inspected the unit in a long time. No apologies or thanks for calling. I will not be booking through them again.

The Windsor Hills property is nice enough. It's secure and the gate staff was very friendly and helpful. The gal in the office, not so much. The pool area looks nice, but like most things, not as nice or as big as it looks online! :)

If someone would like more information, feel free to pm me.

Thanks! I was looking into WH but am thinking of renting from a couple of the owners that have gotten good reviews on the dis but still one never knows and I like to find out about as much as I can about a place before I rent.

Thank-you. I'm researching Windsor Hills right now and this is the kind of info I want to help make my decision.

The water problem with wet floor and buckled tile along with the smoke detector battery missing are major issues. Sounds like there's a water leak somewhere that needs fixing! And battery in smoke detector has to be a basic licensing issue that they should take care of.

The lack of paper goods and cleaning supplies is completely normal, though. We've rented like this many times, and it's typical to have one roll of toilet paper for each bathroom, and perhaps one dishwashing tablet provided. Anything else is extra that may just have been left behind by prior renters. When you rent like this, you are meant to be "self-catering", so it is normal to expect you to provide items like this for yourself. It sounds like there was a problem with the management company that you rented from explaining this to you up-front.

While I'd avoid the specific management company you used, I wouldn't write-off considering renting directly from an owner ever again! There are some great properties out there, and we've found that renting places like this directly from the owner works great for us!

Agreed, you do have to buy your own supplies and this should be explained when you rent. We've done it so many times that it's automatic for us now.
I thought the pool at WH was just as nice as the pictures. :confused3

We've rented at Windsor Hills twice now, with a third trip coming up in November. In the past, we've used a management company and had great experiences, but this time we're renting directly from an owner. (We got a great rate of $90/nt for Thanksgiving week) This post has made me a little anxious about that, though!

About the pool, I also think it is just as nice as the pictures. And how can you beat the price? We've paid way more for off-site hotel suites that weren't half as nice.

Savannahcat,

Would you mind posting or pming me the information for the property you are staying at for $90 a night?

Thank you.

raestr,

I'm trying to send you a PM, but I don't have enough posts yet. I think this post will put me over the limit and I'll send it then.
