Review of the new Matterhorn seats

Am I the only one who doesn't have this problem? Like, it is somewhat of a jerky ride, but I never really feel tossed around or banged up. Maybe my tolerance for it is just higher? I'm 19 and I love the ride! I never have any complaints about the seats...

I don't think the new seats are as comfortable as the old seats, but I didn't find them as bad as others have. I found the ride to be jerkier, but I didn't feel tossed around more.

I didn't say anything about what I'd heard about the new seats to anyone in my party to see if they would comment on it on their own. They didn't say anything. I asked later what they thought of the new seats, and they said they liked the old ones better, but didn't have any major complaints about the new ones. But, we are all between 5'5" - 5'8" and not pooh sized. I can definitely see how someone taller would have a major problem. I was in the very front, and at 5'7" I only had about 2 inches between my knees and the front bar. If someone was 6'+ or had longs legs they would be crammed in there.

I'm 6'2", and the ride is not only no longer fun, it is downright painful. This from a former Matterhorn lover. :(

I spent most of the ride trying to brace myself with every dip and turn in an attempt to minimize my body banging against the sides. That I had my backpack on the floor in front of me made things extra unconfortable.

This is kind of shocking to read cuz I actually love the new cars. I'm 6'0" 175 and I have no issues with being bumped around. The old cars used to hurt my legs some, and don't have that problem anymore.

And kuddos to the Disneyland Adventures game, my family and I love that game!

My DH is 6'3 225lbs-we have never been to DL.
Do you think this is going to be an issue with him? I have told him what others have said and he isn't thrilled with the reviews.

I find it quite disturbing to hear this news about the new Matterhorn seats. :furious: Why in the world did Disney change what was perfect the was it was? :confused3 Matterhorn was my favorite ride because being tall, I could stretch out in comfort and enjoy the ride. The old seats were perfect and very comfortable for me. This was a big mistake by Disney on this call :sad2: Now I doubt I will ever ride it again. :sad1: Disney needs to rethink this and make it right. You have to think about riders of all sizes. I hope Disney will install the old style seating and make this enjoyable for all once again. From what I'm hearing, this will keep a lot of people from enjoying Matterhorn. Walt would not be happy. :sad2:

Come on Disney...you gotta fix this.

Speaking up for riders big and tall...we need to let Disney know how we feel about this new seating. If Disney hears from enough of us, maybe they will fix the seating so people of all sizes can enjoy this ride. Changing the seats was a big mistake to say the least. :scared1: Matterhorn used to be my favorite ride. I would ride it over and over again and brag about how comfortable I felt riding it. Now that enjoyment has been taken away. This is just so wrong.

Let Disney know how we feel...then just maybe the imagineers can make it right. Disney needs to hear feedback from us.

:mic:

I think there were safety concerns with the double seating and a seat belt that didn't lock.

I'm really apprehensive about trying these. This has always been a favorite ride of mine since childhood and I really hope they havn't ruined that...

I tried to like them, I really really did. I rode it about 6x last week and DH and I just got tossed round ll over the place. I can't tell you how many times I banged the back of my shoulder in the seat, it was so sore. I found there to be no back support at all and I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to hold on to those metal side handles, and the bar across in the back of the seat in front was so sticky gross. I found myself yelling ouch more than anything else. I don't know how a tall person can fit comfortably in those seats. We really didn't like them at all and we tried riding on both sides.

On positive note, the line moves really fast now and I like how there is only one line for both sides. DD5 did awesome in her seat alone, and as always loved the ride

I haven't been on since the reno but I always came off the old one with my tailbone hurting and getting thrown around the entire time. Though I would always ride it by myself and I couldn't get the seat belt tight so that was some of why I would slip around. I still loved it but I had to wait to go on it again. I am going in December and now I'm nervous about this ride. I am surprised they didn't do similar padding as space in WDW. :confused3 The track system would still allow you to feel the bumps but it wouldn't hurt.

Kind of scared to go on now...I don't want to hurt myself and have the day be ruined, but it's one of my favs...

If Disney changed the seats over safety issues, then add an additional seat belt or an adjustable safety bar instead. That's what Disney should have done. Then big and tall people can still ride this in comfort. Don't take the old seats out. Doh!! Now it seems like I can no longer ride Matterhorn. :scared:

I just feel Disney handled this all wrong. :crazy2:

I will bet you if you survey most of the Matterhorn fans, they would prefer the old seats back. I hope Disney is listening. :mic:

Please!!!! Bring back the old seats.

I guess I didn't have the same experience as most of the other posters. I liked the new seats better than the old. The ride was bumpy, but not any worse than with the old seats and a lot easier for me to stay put. I also never liked the old system of having someone sit between your legs or being the one to sit between someone's legs.

I'm a long way past 19 (over 50) and I'm short and medium weight, if that means anything.

I liked the new seats, too. I felt way more secure, and the ride felt smoother. You don't have to sit with your legs way apart if someone is in front of you anymore. Of course, I have short legs, so I wasn't squished in.

I'm over 50, too, and I rode in a SKIRT with no problem! :)

I was all prepared to hate them, I almost didn't ride. If there had been a long line I would have skipped it. I'm sure glad I didn't. I was fine with the new seats and it's now my son's favorite ride :goodvibes And it's not like I've got the best back, I lost two inches in a car accident years ago so it's prone to giving me trouble and I had none from the matterhorn. The only person who was complaining was my husband, but he felt it was slower. I still love it.

I rode on the bobsleds on Saturday 10/20. I believe the actual position in the bobsled affects how rough a ride you get. I was in the second bobsled first seat. I noticed it was a little bumpier than what I remember from the old configuration, but not much. My DW sat right in front of me in the last seat of the first bobsled. I could see that she was getting tossed around much more than I was. She would not ride again because it was so bad.

I was wondering this same thing. I had a less then wonderful time bouncing up and down on the hard seat sitting in the back of the first sled. When we were finished I said "wow that did not feel great." the women in middle seat said really I think they are more comfortable now. I will say I never found the old sleds "comfortable" but I do like them better.

I went in with low expectations and unfortunately they were not low enough. The sleds and the mountain look great but feel horrible. This is typically a ride we do several times on a trip but after one ride we were done. I don't mind a wild and bouncy ride like Indy and BTMRR but it was so uncomfortable on the back side that the fun was gone. Too bad:(
