Mike and I decided to try out our Quick and Casual vouchers again, this time sharing a meal at Pecos Bill’s. We had had a great meal here previously, both of us having the chicken wraps with the great toppings bar. This time we went into Pecos Bill’s around lunch time, which can be a mistake while at the Magic Kingdom. Heaven forbid actually being able to eat lunch at lunch time, because that’s when the rest of the park wants to eat, as well! We first studied the menu before we got into line, and chose an entrée that didn’t have a side so we wouldn’t have to waste time asking questions. We waited in line, and at the cashier asked for the Kit Carson chicken salad ($6.39), the side of chili cheese fries ($3.29), the chocolate cream pie ($3.49), and a large diet Coke with no ice ($2.29). The cashier was extremely quick, his hands moved so fast over the computer screen that they were a blur. He was amazing! The only sour note was that the people behind us were talking about sharing a cheeseburger, and I mentioned to them that they could order a second bun and make two cheeseburgers with it. The husband just grunted at me, but then did exactly that when he ordered their meal. A “thanks” would have been nice!

Our food was brought to the front counter quickly and correctly, and we moved over to the condiment stand. There were a lot of people at the stand, but the condiments were refilled quickly and efficiently. At the stand there are sautéed mushrooms, sautéed onions, cheese sauce, relish, tomatoes, lettuce, raw onions, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. There were also napkins, straws, and plasticware. We piled on the onions, mushrooms, and extra cheese sauce on top of the fries, which is what you see in the pictures (or could, if the pictures weren’t so blurry). We also picked up some extra veggies for the side. You can easily make a vegetarian meal out of just the condiment bar!

We wandered around trying to find an empty seat, and settled in the back room. This is where we had eaten previously, and this time it was nearly full. When it’s quiet, I love the atmosphere. The back seating room is set up like an indoor courtyard, and has “windows” with flower boxes and other old west decorations. When it’s busy like it was this time, you can barely notice the themeing. I would suggest trying for a later lunch here, maybe around 2-3 PM, to appreciate the cool, quiet indoors.

The Kit Carson chicken salad contained grilled chicken, lettuce, carrots, jicama slaw, I believe shredded cabbage, cheese, and a sweet vinaigrette. The salad was a chopped salad, except for the chicken, which means that all of the ingredients are combined and finely chopped. I like salads this way because it’s easier to include all of the ingredients in one bite. The chicken was in strips, laid on top. The dressing was not to my liking; it was too sweet and there was way too much of it. After we finished the salad, there was a large pool of dressing at the bottom. The chicken also had some fatty pieces in it. I didn’t enjoy the salad, and wouldn’t order it again. The chili cheese fries were basic chili cheese fries. Nothing outstanding, but good nonetheless. The toppings bar made the fries a larger dish, and they were great with the addition of onions and mushrooms. The pie was also basic chocolate cream pie. There were curls of white and milk chocolate on top, though, which I liked for presentation. It was good, but we wouldn’t have ordered it without the use of the voucher.

Even though it was during the rush of lunch, the cast members were quick and efficient. There was still seating available even though the restaurant was packed, you just have to look a little bit. I recommend it for a later lunch, as I’ve said before. Another benefit of this restaurant is that they’ll substitute small baggies of baby carrots for the French fries. A welcome addition to fast food menus! Next time, Mike and I will split a chicken wrap with additional toppings. We really enjoy this counter service restaurant and will return when we want a quick, healthy meal.

Your reviews are fab, I really look forward to reading them ~ Keep them coming.

This is my favorite counter service in MK (I always want to try El Perico Y Pirato but they are HARDLY EVER open). The food is always perfect and the fixing bar is above average. Last time I was there I went to get ketchup out of the pump-thing and it squirted all over me and everywhere. A few choice words at the time spared me months or years of pent-up anger therapy. Had the darned thing been filled, it wouldn't have happened, but we were there just before a parade which made it extra busy. We've enjoyed burgers, hot dogs, salads, and chili there. For our most finicky eater, we even brought in a turkey leg from the carts out front. There's always plenty of seating so most will not be disappointed. TRY IT!

A well written and interesting review,I enjoyed reading it.::yes:: :wave2:

Thanks for the great review. We just love Peco's Bills. We also have to eat here at least a couple of times on every trip. There fixin's bar is just great...

Glad to hear it's still great. I love the Kit Carson Salad. I get it without the chicken and it's sooo good.

Thanks for posting that. I'm not a huge fan of chili cheese fries, but I think the ones at Peco Bill's are really tasty:earsboy:
