You've heard of park hopping; well, we hotel hopped this trip!
We had a wonderful trip. Here are the hotel highlites.
ASMu--Loved it! Two nights was not enough. We paid extra for perfered veiw and I'm very glad we did. The main pool was great. Mousekeeping did a fine job. We didn't eat at the food court. (Did and Movies and didn't like it.) Didn't use the laundry fasilities (oh, darn!). Bus service and check in were effecient.
CSR--Loved it! The themeing here is great, but I can see why people would say it's spread out. I requested (and got) building 9A and the family thought it was a bit of a walk. DD12 said that the pool was too far away. The busses were close and that was good! Busses and checkin were efficient. Mousekeeping even left a towel duck. Very cute!
Polynesian LV concierge--Prior to the trip DH would say, "We can always switch [to AKL], after I would complain about the pre-itinerary service or read a post that wasn't favorable. Pre-itinerary service was not as (good) as I expected. Slow returns on email and called after saying not to because the kids don't know. However, Matthew did send a box with flower and shell lei's and card from Mickey and Minnie to the kids saying, "See you real soon!" We used these as part of the gift to tell the kids their Christmas presant was to go to Disney.
Room--just as we remembered, except only one sink (we knew that though, so no shock). Beds were comportable. I requested 3rd floor, but got 1st. We took it, just a few doors down from the concierge check in desks. (I loved being close to the lounge.) Was LV worth it? I'm still not sure, but I loved walking out on the patio in my PJs to watch the fireworks! The only things that DH and I noticed that indicated that the room was in need of refurbishment was two rips in the carpet.
CMs--Most were nice, but not as welcoming as we felt at AKL and we thought some were standoffish (if that's a word) there. The last day we met the nicest CM, and she had transfered over from somewhere else and this was her first day! Phil was great at shipping our "Santa" stuff home.
Lounge--The view is great! Chef Dick's food is wonderful. A few things that we felt were missing were cloth napkins and watermellon at breakfast. Watermellon is what DS4 eats for breakfast, so we noticed it not being there. The uncrustables were a new treat for DS4, so I guess it evened out.
Bus service was not the best, but that's not why you stay there.
Mousekeeping left a wonderful 100 years of magic one night, but that was it as far as towel sculpting.
Would we stay at any of these again? ASMu--yes, the price is right. (Rooms are small in compairison to moderates and deluxes.)
CSR--would love too, but don't think we will. Family of five is a better fit in a deluxe or two rooms at All Stars.
Poly--maybe, maybe not. It's a wonderful hotel, but loved AKL more.
Happy to answer any questions.
