I thought that some of you might help me out a bit. I am traveling to England from either Orlando or Atlanta in April. I would love to have any suggestions on who to book with or any suggestions on flights to Birmingham.

I have friends that I am meeting up with in Birmingham for the GoWest 20th anniversary concert. By the way the were fabulous live last October and you should get tickets for the shows if you can. I think they sold out almost all shows last year. I told their management they should play Orlando. Maybe they will! Anyway I flew Virgin out of Atlanta to New York to Heathrow last year and it was a long day! Hopefully you all might have some insight for me since you've planed the reverse. Also any ideas on which airport is closer if I can't fly into Birmingham? Thanks so much. Enjoy your Disney trips. I recently moved form Florida and I miss it very much.

take care

Hi Val,

I'm no expert and can only really say what I would do in your situation.

Personally I would be looking to fly into Birmingham rather than another airport as that is where you need to be and the other international airports are all a good 2-3 hours away from Birmingham :(

I have done a quick search on www.airline-network.co.uk and it looks like there are flights available between Birmingham and Atlanta. From this point I would probably just book whatever was the least expensive out of those that met my travel dates, unless there were any carriers that you have had particularly bad experiences with.

I personally haven't travelled out of Birmingham so I can't give you any more specific information but I hope you find what I have said helpful. :)

I don't think there are any direct flights from Atlanta to Birmingham. The only US destination I can see on the Birmingham airport website is New York with Continental.

As Alan says, getting from other international UK airports to Birmingham will take some time (and expense). It may be better to look for other european destinations that have cheap flight links with Birmingham (Amsterdam and Dublin for instance).

Sorry, I should have said that I didn't search for direct flights. All the options I saw were via Amsterdam.

Apologies for any confusion.

Alan.

Thanks so much for the replies. I think I will probably fly into Heathrow or Gatwick and have friends pick me up. Much easier in the long run.

Hope all of you have a great time visiting the US!

Thanks

Val
