Reading the description of this ride, not sure I want to do it. Don't like the "dark" thing with things jumping out at me. Is it really scary?

It's not that scary, I can give you some info.

(SPOILERS)

There's some "mummies" that kinda pop up near you with flames in the background.

There's also scarab beetles, but you don't feel any of them at all, maybe a drop of water or 2.

There's also flames on the ceiling above them

(/SPOILERS)

thats great info - Is it like a roller coaster?? eg are there any sudden drops??:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It IS a mixture of rollercoaster and slow moving dark ride, there are 2 sudden drops however the drops are not very tall at all, as soon as you realize it, you're not dropping anymore and it's very fun!

Sounds like Forbidden Journey might be scarier than Mummy. Those dementors scare the pants off me.

Thanks! Guess I'll give this one a try. I don't ride all the big coasters, but do want to ride some of the things with the family while we're there.

It's sounds scarier than what it really is. It's an excellently- told story, though.

The queue is pretty scary-looking at first, but then you get used to it. The actual ride is just terrific. It's my all-time favorite theme park ride. Period.

But if you're still nervous, here's something that you can do that makes ANY ride less scary. When you ride, cover your ears. It's that simple.

Cover your ears. Then the next time you ride it (and you WILL ride it again), do it without your ears covered. This little secret helps those frightened souls.

But you also gotta ride it without your ears covered because there's some dialogue that's so cold that it's kinda funny. (Like, "Your End Shall Be My Beginning!" :lmao:)

thanks everyone!!:thumbsup2 I chickened out last time, I am really gonna try to do it this time:goodvibes - its just having to do it on my own while DH has the kids that has stopped me so far - but I am a big girl now - I CAN do it!!!:lmao:

Do you like the RocknRoller Coaster? This one is no worse than that, in fact the coaster part is much shorter.

I LOVE this ride! Do try it - you might be surprised.

Well I HATE RnR. It took everything I had to get through that ride and will never do it again. Not a fan of inversions.

No inversions on the Mummy, it's more like Space Mountain in that sense. The effects of the rollorcoaster part are more like RnR, with neon blacklight lite bilboards and some cool steam effects.

It's been hard to decide whether my favorite ride of all time is the Mummy or Forbidden Journey. At least the Mummy doesn't stop in the middle of the ride and ruin immersion if it breaks down. FJ broke down the first time I rode it, missed out on the best part of the simulations.

Don't miss the Mummy.

The mummy is very fun. I didn't find it scary at all and usually if there is even a chance something is going to jump out at me and give me a fright I keep my eyes close. I think you should be able to handle it. There aren't any huge drops but it does go backwards (which is pretty awesome).

The Mummy is probably our favorite ride... We are a fan of the movies and of Coasters! The mix of forwards/backwards, fire, speed makes for an AWESOME ride!

if you don't like the ride, its all over and you're back out in under 2 minutes.

its well worth a try, its a cracking little ride (just keep your eyes open, lots to see)

When it is time for the roller coaster part, you do get launched. That is worse for me than the actual drops. The RC part is similar to space mountain, but shorter.

I don't do inversions or serious spinning. I was just wondering how the ride goes backwards. Is it like EE at AK Disney? That one goes backwards fast & tilts up to one side. Is that the case here? I thought I could do that, but when I went on EE, I felt as if it had done an inversion, even though I knew it hadn't. I felt sick for a couple of hours after that. Do you think I will have a problem with Mummy? :scared: Thanks for your input.

No,the backwards on the Mummy is only like 20'.Not fast at all.Allitle surpising the very least thats all..:thumbsup2

you may be getting confusing information by looking it up, there are 2 mummy rides, one at either Universal Park and both are VERY different (even in storyline)

the Orlando one, the reverse section out of the beetle room is in the dark ride element, and nothing at all (think reversing a car almost)

the Hollywood one, you do half the coaster, enter the beetle room and then do the rest of the coaster backwards.
