I am going to Universal in six days(it says it below lol). My mom isn't a big coaster fan but i sure am! I have been planning to go on mummy from the first time i heard of it. i was wondering if someone could teel me if it goes upside down, if its really fast, ect. i REALLLY want her to go on because i know she'll miss out on a great ride. thanks!

The Mummy was great! Doesn't go upside down, though. Fast at times. We loved it.

it wasn't what i was expecting at all. probably because i am a scardy cat but it wasn't scary at all. i was both a little relieved and disappointet at that. as for the coaster part, i loved that. it doesn't go upside down like the last poster said but it does swirl around fast. it actually became one of my favorite rides since i know now that it won't scare me. my nephew and i rode it several times.

Has she done any smaller coasters? I am not a big roller coaster fan and was able to do the Mummy without any problems. I didn't much care for being in the dark AND on a roller coaster, but I didn't feel sick at all.

I don't know if she has done any Disney rides, but as far as the "feel sick" factor, Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom was about the same as the Mummy. Only the Mummy was WAY more modern and not nearly as jerky and rough! Good luck!

Oh, I just thought of something else. My husband actually got me to go on this ride by pointing out that the drops cannot be taller than the building. So you don't have to worry about a huge plunge, just lots of little bumps and dips.

it's the best ride in universal! in my opinion. i rode it 5 times w/ no wait. first u go thru like a theme type slow ride, go backwards sort of fast, then the coaster comes. its really cool. its really not that bad actually.

It's the best ride in the Studios. It goes a mere 40 mph, but the darkness makes it very cool. No inversions.

P.S. The coolest part is when Imhotep is saying a bunch of stuff, you start going upward and he yells, "Your souls are mine!" and you launch up staight at him and then dive away from him just in time!

Awesome!

this ride is much less of a coaster than you guys are thinking. Its a total immersive experience into a horror story with a little bit of coaster action. Its unique so hard to describe. DEFINITELY go on it, it is very very good! Its as ground breaking for a ride as spiderman was!

Is it a big drop?

Not big at all. Keep in mind, this is a completely indoor ride. The drops aren't very big, but they feel much more wild because they enhanced w/ the dark, mist, and projections of the phantom mummies (at least that's what they look like).

I think you have to make the judgement for yourself. I was scared out of my mind on Mummy. The ride made me feel very clausterphobic. It wasn't my cup of tea. I'm glad I didn't but sure won't be going on it again.

I was terrified before I rode (mind you I was terrified before I rode Spaceship Earth for the first time! :teeth: ), and nearly wimped out waiting in line. However, a combination of knowing I would never forgive myself if I didn't ride and my teenage daughters refusing to let me leave convinced me to go through with it.

Once I'd done it, I couldn't wait to get back on! We'd left my dh in Finnegans bar opposite. He's not afraid of coasters, but he does suffer from motion sickness. We went straight there to drag him on it (and away from his Guinness which didn't impress him much :rotfl2: ). It's currently my favourite ride in Orlando (although that could all change when Expedition Everest debuts next year). I've ridden about 10 times now and it's the first ride I'll be heading to next trip.

Your Mom is bound to be apprehensive the first time she rides - it's the not knowing that's the worst thing, but I guarantee she'll want to get straight back on if she can pluck up the courage to do it once.

One thing that encouraged me was the mock-up seats outside the ride - they've only got a lap bar, so you know it can't be too bad!

For a Disney comparison, the coaster section of the Mummy is no wilder than Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Space Mountain. There is one backwards slide (I wouldn't even call it a drop) that's roughly comparable to the backwards slide on Maelstrom at Epcot's Norway Pavillion except you're in a car on a track instead of in a boat. As there are no inversions, everyone should try it at least once.

it was a piece of cake. As described by other posters this is not a roller coaster ride like you think. It is more of a show on a track. My daughter is 7 and my son 9 and though they were both scared to death to ride on this they came off it wanting to go back. I got sick in Mission Space and slightly dizzy on Rockin Roller Coaster but this ride was fun. I would go again. I think everyone should try it at least once too.

My friend is concerned that she read "Fear of insects" is one of the fears they address on this ride. I need to know if they touch you at all with anything that feels like insects or is it just visual and audio? If they touch her, she won't ride. Otherwise, we can't wait to try it!

I DO NOT DO ROLLER COASTERS! but my kids and husband talked me into Mummy and I thought it was great!

Your friend can ride without fear; nothing touches you on the ride. The scarab beetles are visual only.

I thought that there would be some sort of effect that would simulate scarabs crawling over you. That didn't happen.
I don't think the ride is psychological at all. Still a great ride.

This ride scared my wife to death - she even bought the picture that they take during the ride because she (along with half the other people in the ride vehicle) was screaming so loud and hard. She does not like rollercoasters but can tolerate BTMRR.

I love rollercoasters and I think this is a pretty intense ride. I think it is much more intense than Space Mtn or BTMRR (I rode them all within a week of each other).

Well I definitely will have to ride it again in Oct. I rode it once on our last trip, and I didn't think it was anywhere near as intense as Space Mtn. I keep reading about how great, intense, scary, cool... it is and I keep saying, "What did I miss?" Maybe it was the fact that I was riding solo and had no one to share the experience with, plus I was kind of in a hurry to get back to my kids who were waiting with hubby. Can't wait to experience it again and see if it's really as good as everyone says!

It was totally not expecting it! I was expecting a sorta 'seeing cool things' ride rather than a rollercoaster. It totally surprised me! I really enjoyed it and im not into really big coasters (the hulk or dueling dragons is a big no!). It was a really great ride, i felt a little light headed afterwards (probs the screaming from pure fun!) but i went on it again about an hour later. The surprise factor got me more, i was not expecting it to go that fast, since each cart contains 4 rows of 4 (16 ppl!) so not only is it a fast loader, but it makes u feel really safe with ppl around u (i sat dead centre). I hated movies like mummy or revenge of the mummy, but the ride didnt scare me at all, the graphics are great! the fog and swooping curves are amazing. infact quing up was the scariest part of the ride. Warning though: i almost lost my sunglasses on this ride, not thinking it was that fast, they are right, Make sure you secure all lose items, esspecaily hats or sunnys.
