I'm going to put in a poll -- who do you think the murdered friend is? We know it's not Carla, since we saw the detective interviewing her in the present day.
Meanwhile, my thoughts. I was looking forward to this series. It seemed intriguing with the concept, and whodunits are always fun if done right.
The first episode seemed -- well, just okay. I think the fact that I have to go to Fox.com to double check the names of a couple of the characters is a sign that they didn't leave a very strong impression on me.
Things seemed really cliched. One girl, I think it was Jenna, made a comment to another "how Molly Ringwald of you". The characters seemed like they were from a John Hughes film. There's the rich guy and his poor buddy, who both love the same girl, who's dating the rich guy but is pregnant by the poor guy. There's the shy girl who's in love with the guy who has no clue about music, while he has the hots for the slut.
And then we have the poor guy taking the fall for the rich guy who was driving drunk, got in an accident, so that rich guy doesn't go to jail and poor guy will get probation but instead gets a year in jail (smooth move calling that one, rich dad).
Not to mention -- if the doctors release someone injured in an accident and that someone dies soon after from internal bleeding, shouldn't that be malpractice on the doctors and not vehicular manslaughter on the other driver???
I may give it another couple of weeks and see if it improves. Right now, it's just "eh" for me.
