Uh Oh, I have sort of a problem here. You see, I purchased something a few days ago in the world, and I lost the receipt! Is it possible that I can get a refund without in in Walt Disney World. I know that it can be done at TDS, but WDW might be different with their policy.

I am going to WDW tommorow for WD's 100th b-day (yay!), so I need to know this information ASAP.

The WDW return policy is that you can only recieve money back if you have an original reciept. If you do not have the reciept, you can only exchange the item(s) for other merchandise. You will only recieve the CURRENT value of the item...for instance, if you paid $8.50 a week ago, and the item went on sale yesterday for $2.00, you could only have $2.00 credit towards other purchases. They are very strict on this, since in the past few years there have been lots of cases of fraudulent refunds. Hope this helps.

Hi Scott--

Here's another question for you, related to your post above.....

When you return an item without a receipt and receive a merchandise credit, must you use the credit on the spot, or can it be saved and used at some other time?

Thanks,

Christy

p.s.--thanks for the pin for the kids via Janice!

Yes, you have to purchase other things right then and there. They don't actually issue a "credit" per se, you just can not recieve any money back. BUT, remember that you can return items to ANY disney owned store on property. So, if you are looking to buy some gifts at The Art of Disney, you can return your pins there, it does not have to be at the location that you bought the items at. This goes for all returns...with and without reciepts. Hope that clears things up a little bit at least. Jeeze, you would think I would be a Cast Member with all this wealth of knowledge...but alas.;)

Thanks for the info. I will be returning some bean bags I bought a long time ago and exchanging them with pins! I never thought of that before.

I don't know if it's still true, but the beanies used to be considered collectibles and you could only return them within a certain length of time from date of purchase. At least that's the way it was in the Disney Store. Does anyone know if it applies to WDW, or if it still applies at all?

The beannies are still listed as collectables and the Disney Stores have a 30 day return policy with receipt on collectables.

The DS will issue you a credit for the current value on one of the new merch credit cards. It's plastic, less easy to lose.

I agree about the beanies. If they could be returned I would've rented a u-haul by now and returned them to my closest store. Even at half price! What was I thinking??? I believe the return clause on beanies is also listed in the catalog under return policy.
