returning emails?

Hey- what time frame would you think is too long for a response? Typically I respond as soon as I get it or at least the next day. I have been talking about things w/ different vendors and have not gotten a response. Email was sent Sunday (so they would get it Monday) and I have not heard again today so 3 business days?

I should say that I am back on track w/ my invitations! YAY! So that makes me feel better from last week- Just was curious This is not my invitations person or my EM, , she responds immediately so I am not sure if I am just spoiled or what? Speaking of invitations I never heard back from Impressions via email or after my phone calls-

On average, I would think five business days (one week) would be too long to go without getting a response to your inquiry. I would hope that you would get some sort of response within three business days. But it really depends upon what sort of information you are seeking. For example, if your vendor needs to check with someone else, that slows down the flow of information. Of course, I would hope your vendor would at least let you know that they're waiting on news from another party.

If you are feeling uncomfortable with the response time from your vendor, please discuss it with them. You might be more of a hands-on type of customer than they are used to dealing with. If they know what you expect from the very beginning, they should tailor their response time to your needs. That isn’t asking too much. However, if they think it is, then it is time for you decide whether or not you need to replace that vendor. You are, after all, the paying customer and the reason that vendor is in business. ;)
 
I agree with Janet, I think 5 working days is acceptable. If you haven’t heard from them by then, I would either contact them again or take my business elsewhere.
 
I think the vendors are really busy right now as it's wedding season. It took me a while to get a reply from Anna from Makeover Majic, and I'm still waiting on a reply from Broadway Foto (just sent another e-mail last night, as it had been over a week).
 

Great thread! I've been encountering the same problem with vendors not returning my emails promptly (over five business days). While I know they must be busy with the wedding season, it is frustrating when emails go unanswered for over a week.

Wedding planning has given me one quality I never had before: Patience! :rolleyes:
 
I think it is just frustrating- because I am so excited to get my info and like I said me EM has been so prompt with emails. So going on day 4, we will see what happens- this reminds me, I need to check on my engagement pics too!

I agree with everyone else. After 5 business days, I would send another email. Not only are the vendors very busy b/c it's wedding season, but it is also the start of summer. They may be short-staffed due to employees taking vacations, changing schedules b/c employees' children are out of school, etc. I have to email frequently for work, and it is always tough getting a hold of people in the summer. It is quite frustrating. Good luck :)
 
Wow! I think you are all the most patient brides I've ever met:):) Seriously, I think that a response within 5 business days is adequate, but I think good businesses would say that a 24 hour response time is more ideal. I would probably wait two days and send a non-irritating follow up. But that is just me, I'm a customer service nut!
 
I also think 24 - 48 hours is an ideal timeframe to get a response. I know I always get back to my clients within 24 business hours!

I have one vendor in particular with whom I'm really looking to hear back from. This is the second time I have been waiting for over five days. I'm beginning to reconsider...
