DW, DS (19), and I returned from POR last Friday, January 6. We had a very nice stay.

We saw this resort back in 1999 when it was Dixie Landings and we were staying at Port Orleans. We really only saw it from a distance because we rented a bike from Ol' Man Island, biked the path along the river and went straight back to Port Orleans.

This trip we had a very nice stay. We used on-line check in and when we got to the resort (used ME) at 1:30 we went straight to the On-line Check In desk. There was only one person behind the counter and she was talking to a very, very, very chatty guy (and he didn't seem too pleased as best I could tell). There was actually some free CM behind the counter doing nothing at the regular check-in. At some point but not right away one of them walked around, asked my name, grabbed our paperwork and we went around to his station and booked us in. Our room was ready which was really nice. We were there for five nights.

We got directions to our room at Parterre (I may be spelling it wrong) building number 95. We asked for a garden room when we booked our room and we had a decent view from our room. We were on floor three and had a partial view of the roof but still had more of a garden view.

No problem with the room (except the AC was turned way too cold). It was clean, and the bath towel and hand towels Mickey was very cool that was on the bed nearest the door. Day two we had two swans, and on day three the mouse keeper made a cool towel holder for our tooth brushes and tooth paste tube. Didn't see any more towel animal after night number three.

We never ate at Boatwright's Dining Hall so I can't comment on this restaurant. But we did eat at Riverside Mill for each of our breakfasts and most of our dinners. For a five night stay we had no problem with the selections offered here. We had two cold mornings and they closed the poolside bar, Muddy Rivers for two nights but on our last night DW, DS, brother in-law, and I had a nice night out relaxing and enjoying our drinks after four days in the parks.

We went by the River Roost a couple of times when a piano guy was playing. The bar was packed and it looked like the people were having a blast. It isn't just him playing the piano, it's very much audience participation.

The boat to Downtown Disney was fun and fast. Except for one occasion the busses were very quick. The only time that was frustrating was when we were heading to the Magic Kingdom. We got the the pick up station and a DHS bus came very quickly followed by an AK bus. Less than two minutes later another DHS bus came and of course no one was there to get on because one was there less than two minute ago. Then an EPCOT bus came followed by another AK bus. When a bus finally showed up for the MK it filled before we got on.

While waiting someone on a scooter came along with a cast member. When he saw that the bus was filled he radioed for another one to the MK Finally it showed up, they loaded the guy in the scooter and his family. When we finally were let on (25 minutes after we first showed up) a MK bus arrived along with another EPCOT bus right behind.

This was the ONE AND ONLY wait we had. All others were immediately boarding because the bus was there or pulling up as were were getting there or less than a five minute wait all the other times.

We had a great stay at POR and can think of no reason why you shouldn't give it a try if you have never stayed there before.

How did you find the distance of Parterre to other parts of the resort?

How did you find the distance of Parterre to other parts of the resort?

I love to walk/hike; so resort size doesn't matter to me.

However my wife did make a comment that she did not like the distance from Parterre to other section of the resort, but she is having problems with one of her hips so that is an issue. So if you have little ones that will be tired by the end of a long day in the park/s or have mobility issues the size of the park may be an issue if you get a room in one of the buildings that is further away.

Just wanted to add that we did a horse drawn carriage ride one night and had a very nice ride through Alligator Bayou. It was $45.00 for a 20-25 minute ride. Never made it into the Bayou during the day but loved how lush that part of the resort is with the gardens. Someday will have to request Alligator Bayou.
