Back from our Disney Dance team trip. We stayed in POR for the first time. We were in building 28 which was centrally located to the main pool, quiet pool, food court and bus stop. Our whole team stayed in the same building. The last dance team trip we stayed at CBR and the general consensus was a preference for CBR.

The girls danced in the MK on Tuesday night in Tommorow land and that went well. Our own little group had a great time. We ate at 1900 Park Fare, CRT, Tony's Town Square, Chef Mickey's and WCC. All were good, but CRT is not worth all the hype. :confused3 Our group was chosen as the MK family of the day and instead of a ride the girls asked to wake up Tinkerbell. We also got YOAMD Mickey Ears at MK and YOAMD Fast Passes in AK. We gave the fast passes away to a family since grandmom had a GAC and we were getting on the rides fairly quickly with that.

It was very hot, but not that many thunderstorms. Transportation was pretty good, though one of the busses broke down. It broke down at one of the FQ bus stops so we just got out and hopped on the next bus that was also going to POR.

All in all it was a great trip. Any questions, please ask!

Liked the food court at CBR better. I thought it was easier to navigate CBR and the main pool, food court and pool bar area better. I also liked the tropical themeing at CBR. There wasn't anything wrong with POR and I would certainly stay there again if the team did, but I just prefer CBR.

I am leaving in 4 days for POR this will be our first stay at POR. I have stayed at the CBR 2 times and loved it. We tried CSR last time we went and found it just was not for us. This trip is going to be just DH and I. My questions are: 1.) how was the walk from building 28 to the main food area? I stayed in Jamica and found the walk to the main pool and food court to be a nice walk not to long and not to short. How would you compare the 2? 2.) Would you put a request in for a certain building? My only request was for a king size bed. I like the AB look but i guess I would be ok with the Manisons area.

Any other advice or hints would be GREAT. Thank you

Good morning. I am glad you guys had a great trip.

First of all, I know this is not restaurant board but could you tell us about Tony's Town Square, Cinderella's Royal Table and Whispering Canyon. We were booked at all three but never made it there because we had to cancel our trip. Thinking about booking these again for our 2009 trip.

Second, we love the CBR but thought about staying at Port Orleans. I know that it's a personal thing on which resort someone picks but can you give us some details comparing the two resorts.

We are from Louisiana so I am afraid the Port Orleans theming will be lost on us.

Also, do you have pictures to share?

Dear Mickestoontown,

I am also from The South and while POR IS a beautiful resort, it was not anything special to me as it looked like very other "nice" place I've been to in The South. YMMV.

I like the food court and the restaurant at POR better. Love the design your own pasta, and it is a very good value. Really enjoyed River Roost and Boatwrights.

I like the theming and decor better at CBR, probably beause it is so colorful and different.

I've had great service and mousekeeping at both places during numerous stays.

I think it's interesting that the theming is supposed to have the feel of being down south in Louisiana (and maybe it does, as I've never been to Louisiana).....but it reminds me soooo much of an area in northwestern Michigan that we used to go to every summer. With the trees, landscaping, and the river. I think it's gogeous. We love POR!!

One of the reasons we keep going back to POR (instead of another resort) is the boat to Downtown Disney. There are rivers and lakes everywhere in Maine so it isn't something new to us but it is a nice change from taking the bus. And I love the make your own pasta.

We don't care for POR either. The food court is average and the bus sharing stinks. A resort as large as POR should have their own service all the time.

The walk to the main food court was nice. Not too long and not to short. We did cut through building 27 and that cut off some time. I guess it depends on what side of building 28 you are on whether you would follow the same route. We were in AB, so I can't really say anything about the mansions. The paths are winding with nice landscaping. It seems no matter where you are, you aren't all that far from everything, at least in AB. We wren't the closest building and not the farthest from the main building and main pool.

We enjoyed all three restaurants, but I do think CRT is over rated. If you are looking for Cindy for a character meal, 1900 Park Fare is much better. Food is better also. We enjoyed Tony's, but wish they would serve alcohol there. The dinner lends itself to a nice glass of wine.;) It was the second time we ate at WCC and we enjoyed it again. CRT is the only one I would say give thought to, but I am glad that we did it once.

Again, there was nothing wrong with POR, but I liked the food court better at CBR and the themeing appeals to me more. I thought that the layout was easier to navigate since you are in a circle around a lake. I liked that the food court, pool bar and pool are all nestled together. I did prefer the quiet pool at POR to the ones at CBR though. We never used the boat service to DTD, but have at our stays at OKW and that is a nice perk.

Thanks for your help. I'm really beginning to think we are gonna just stick with our favorite resort....CBR. I just can't make myself get too excited about any other resort. Plus, I hear that they are going to be renovating some of the CBR rooms to make them like Pirates of the Caribbean and Finding Nemo. My son loves the pirate theme.

I am glad we stayed there and would stay there again. I do like to stay at different resorts all the time, so if you are like me in that respect, definitely give POR a try. It is my goal to try every Disney resort!:)
