What is the cheapest way to get from MCO to our resort? We are planning to rent a car in the beginning of the week and spend 1/2 week at the ocean. For the second 1/2 of the week we are staying at OKW but want to return the rental car since we won't need it with Disney transport. At the end of the week we'll use Magic Express to get back to airport. Sooooo, if we return the car midweek at MCO how do we get back to our resort. Can you buy a 1 way Mears transport? Has anyone done this?

Have you thought about the Magical Express? I would call MS and see what they can do. Also, you should think about dropping the rest of the family and luggage at OKW before returning the car to MCO. keep us updated on the answer. That's a great question.

If you rent with Alamo or National you can drop the car off at the Dolphin hotel. We do this all the time. We walk or ride the boat over to MGM and take a bus back to our DVC home.

I think the Hilton at downtown Disney has a Hertz (maybe?) in their lobby. I can't remember which car company it is.

You could drop everything off at OKW, then either drop the car off at CCC or the Dolphin. If you drop off at the CCC, the shuttle service can take you back to OKW. At the Dolphin, you would have to take Disney Transport.

Check your rates first. Lately there has been an added $20.00 to drop off on property.

May be easier to drop everything off at OKW, return car to MCO and take Magical Express back to OKW.

The question will be whether Disney lets you take Magical Express on a day other than your arrival day. If you're not going to be on Disney property before your ocean trip, and you haven't booked airfare through Disney, you could probably just give them a flight and arrival time for the day you want to return the car.

However, all of this shoould take at least 2 hours to do (if you drop family off at resort first). You might find it worth while, with codes (Dollar has been very good of late), to just keep the car for the whole week to avoid the airport trek. That will give you the added advantage of leaving for the airport and hour or so later than DME would normally pick you up on your last day.

Technically it is their arrival day. I guess they'll just have to call MS to find out if it can be done.

Check the rental car rates carefully. Turning the car in halfway through your vacation may not save you much -- in fact, it may cost you more.

If the cost is close, you may want to just keep the car for driving to some parks, dining offsite, etc.

We have used Alamo, National, and Dollar and rented each one way. Dollar is located at the Grosvenor resort- an easy walk from the DTD bus stop. We walked there to pick up a car and then returned it to the airport but you could do the opposite also.
