It's time again for the semi-annual presentation of the BWV webcam! For you newbies, this means DH and I are taking our twice yearly trip to Boardwalk Villas in a Boardwalk View room. We always set up a webcam so you folks at home can enjoy the view, too! While my countdown shows I leave today, we won't be checking in to BWV until Sunday, and I don't know if we'll have our room before we go over to MK. It could be late Sunday night or Monday morning before it's set up, but sometime in the next few days watch for the return of the BWVcam! I'll leave it up until we check out Friday morning.

It will refresh every five minutes automatically - depending on the BWV connection (which has been spotty in the past). Enjoy!!

See you on the Boardwalk, Jean! :)

I've got the BWVcam site bookmarked and I'm ready to watch! :thumbsup2

Have a wonderful WDW vacation!!!

Very cool - thank you so much for doing this!! I have the site bookmarked, and am looking forward to it.

Counting down the days until my first BW view room in December!

The cam is up! We're on the second floor just past the red building that juts out, so our view is pretty much dead on Epcot. Because the connection is a continuous 24 hours, we won't be in tomorrow when it recycles, so it will go off sometime tomorrow afternoon. We'll renew it late tomorrow night or first thing Tuesday morning and it'll be back.

Very cool, nice view out towards the beach club/international gateway.

5 days until we leave, can't wait. I remember last year when you posted this thinking that we still had a year to wait until our trip. Now I just have to manage 5 more days.

Excellent!! :thumbsup2

Thanks again for doing this.. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Now my productivity at work will be much lower as I watch the Friendship boats dock and undock all day and daydream of home.. :rotfl:

Can you describe how you setup the webcam with the computer.

I've done this for the past several trips. My first few, I had a pc laptop and a logitech webcam. Hooked up to the high speed internet, put the camera out on the balcony with the cord through the crack in the door, launched some webcam software (don't remember what I used on the pc) and let it do its thing.

I now have an Apple iBook and an iSight camera - basically I do the same thing but the software is EvoCam which is made for Mac. We also now bring a wireless router so that we can set up a wireless connection in the room and DH can use his laptop while the webcam still uploads.

The key in either case is you must have hosted space somewhere on the web to upload the file to. You can either give people the direct address of the image, then they reload it manually to see the updates, or do like I did and write an HTML page that embeds the image in and does a java refresh every so many seconds.

It sounds more complex than it is, but if you play around with a webcam setup and home and get it working, just duplicate it on the road when you have high speed internet access.

And fyi, the camera is back up and the internet now refreshes at 10:30 pm here, so we should be here to do it every night. If we're not, we won't miss it by much. The camera should be pretty much continuous until late Thursday night!

Thank you so much for doing this. I just got home Sunday and this helps ease the pain of "reality". :rotfl:

thanks for the time and effort WDWguru! i've got your page bookmarked and am checking it out frequently.....we're heading to BWV for thanksgiving in 28 days. not sure if your webcam will help the time go by faster or make it seem like forever ;)

Thank you sooo much for sharing the beautiful view :goodvibes
Looks like ya had a glorious day......not a cloud in the sky :cloud9:
