Return a Rental Car at Resort?

Wondering if this makes sense.

When my family flies in, we are getting a car to drive to a Universal Studios Resort Thurs-Sunday. Then we'll use the car to drive to WDW BLT and grab some groceries along the way. Staying for a week at BLT. We don't really need the car there as we are doing MK for 3 days, Epcot via monorail and could take the bus to AK and HS. We could also take Magical Express to the airport on our last day.

I've heard there are Hertz desks at some resorts? Could I/Should I think of turning in the car early to save 7 days of costs when we don't really need it? I wouldn't want to take it back to the airport, so would need somewhere convenient on-site to return it. (fyi- we don't have to book via Hertz- I'm just a Gold Plus member and like having the car ready at the airport) Maybe it's easier to drive back to the airport in the car to drop it off final day before flight instead of ME bus? Open to opinions. Thanks!

Each of the Downtown Disney hotels has a different car rental company where you can return a car. There is a sticky at the top of the Transportation Board that tells which is where. If you rent with Alamo, you can return the car at Disney's Car Care Center, and they will shuttle you to BLT.

Thanks for your reply. I've been comparing pricing online. We'll need a 6 passenger vehicle and even with good CDP codes, etc I can't find one under $1000 in terminal and it sounds like it would take time away from touring to have to return it mid trip. I think we might look into the getting either a taxi or town car/van service from:

MCO to Cabana Bay and then
Cabana Bay to Contemporary

Any recommendations for a safe/inexpensive taxi or town car service that could accommodate 6? We only need use of a car for those two segments, so I'm thinking it's more economical than renting a car.
