Restrictions on Quick Service Access?

Too many people were doing this and canceling the mobile order as a workaround to park at those other resorts, but it may work at PO since they really only have special access to Disney Springs. Might be worth a shot... šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Actually both of them do, so I wonder if we could place a mobile order at either one, then show our mobile order to the guard shack. Frankly I'd prefer to then cancel our order only because I've had some problems using mobile order at resorts, then they ran out and still charge me for the item. So I prefer to see what's available before I buy. But if necessary, I'll chance going with mobile order. At least now I know we can get in! Thanks!

Isn't there a boat that links those two? The water taxi that travels between them and disney springs?

I have heard of folks, for the most part, being able to get into those non-park resorts with their vehicles. But have a backup plan if they deny entry.
We were at AKL in Dec and also in Jan. There is a big sign at the security shed stating only guests with room or dining reservations can enter. AKL was always a resort people could drive to for CS dining, shopping, or animal watching. If they're restricting there, they are likely restricting just about anywhere. Things definitely seemed to have tightened up at this time.

Most of the time for the non-park resorts you won't need this. For the park resorts, even this won't get a lot of people in. The above poster mentions 'dining reservations', which is not the same as a QS order. That holds more with what I've seen and heard. It has to be TS or a resort stay, or simply use Disney transportation.

In January, not knowing the new rules, I placed a mobile order at CBR for a quick lunch. I had no intentions of parking there to jump on the Skyliner. (It was a non-park trip.) The guard at the gate would not let me in, even showing I had a mobile order. He told me I would just have to get a refund. Nothing would sway him. On the other hand, my daughter and I had an ADR of Olivia’s. The guard at OKW didn’t even check or name or confirm the reservation, just told us to enjoy our meal. I would not count on being able to visit resorts with a monorail or Skyliner access without an ADR.

I will be visiting family in two weeks. We are going to Epcot for a day while we are there. We got a reservation for breakfast at Cape May Cafe and plan to walk to Epcot for the day. We will be driving in and don't plan to have a problem. I understand why they are strict about resort parking so there's enough room for the guests that are staying there.

If you're saying you plan to eat and go over to Epcot, leaving your car at BC/YC, then be prepared to pay impound and towing fees. Your car will most likely be towed.

There's a 3-hour limit on resort parking for dining, and Disney does tow cars parked longer at the Epcot and monorail resorts.

I wonder now, in the age of online check-in especially at DVC resorts, how this is possible? They don’t ask for your license plate info and nothing on your car shows you are a hotel guest?

What do you think the guard sitting in the booth is doing? There's a camera on your license plate when you stop at the gate.

Curious, Where do you find this information about the parking limit? My brother and sister-in-law are cast members and haven’t heard of this. I’m sure they are more strict on the weekends but we will look into it. I don’t see it has a huge issue because we are spending money on their property not just trying to skip the parking fee (which we wouldn’t have to pay because of my brother).

It's not official, but thrown around a lot on the Disboards as something official. We literally eat at hotels at Disney multiple times a month and never once been told a time limit, nor have we seen a tow truck or tow signs.

Don't worry about your plans, truly.

And does the guard note your time entered and then 3 hours later go looking for your car so it can be towed? I truly don’t think so. You are right, that camera pointing at the back of your car is definitely on your license plate but there are tons of times they just glance at your id and wave you in. I am just wondering exactly how strict this 3 hour policy is.
For example, if you went into Riviera you could hypothetically drive into any section of Caribbean Beach and park. Would the guard then search both properties for your 3 hour and 15 minute violation?

Someone mentioned a car getting towed in January from Beach Club because the individual parked at the hotel and then went to a park.

There's also a really old thread from 2006 where several people mentioned 3-hour passes being given out at guard booth, and cars being towed. Seemed like they were really cracking down that year! Maybe some of those memories have lingered for Disney vets and the lore continues.

I could search for more examples... 2006 was a quick google search. 2022 was a quick disboards search. I stopped there, but there must be more examples from 2006-2021 on disboards/tripadvisor/google.

In summary, it seems it's not common. However not completely unheard of either.
