Next month my parents are coming to visit, and we're heading to the parks for a couple of days. My mom has fibromyalgia and a few other health issues that she controls with her diet. The basics are no gluten, no corn, no dairy, and no potato products. I know, it's crazy! But it keeps her healthy and off prescriptions. We will be doing DHS in the morning and MK in the afternoon/evening for one of our days. I am trying to figure out plans for dinner. For lunch I am thinking we will do BOG, but dinner has me at a loss! What would you recommend? I'm sure a TS would be easier than QS, but I don't think a buffet would be good so that rules out CP. It looks like LTT only has one option for dinner and wouldn't really work. I haven't even checked CRT because I know it will be impossible to get a ressie and will also be $$$. Any suggestions are welcome. I don't really want to leave the park since we only have 1/2 day there, but if there are no good options in the park, I would be open to something at a monorail resort.

I have a fairly restricted diet because of allergies including; dairy, gluten, mustard, tapioca, artifical sweeteners, and alcohol. The buffets are usually easier to eat at because the chefs have so many ingredients to work with. CP is my favorite place to eat at MK. Last time I was there I was able to have roast turkey, steamed broccoli, corn and peas, and fresh fruit. They even had ice cream I could eat for desert. The chef made all my food in the back. I'm not actually sure what the buffet even looks like since some of my allergies are respitory and they keep me kinda away from everybody and the buffet.

There's no reason to avoid buffets. A chef will walk you through the buffet, going over what's already safe (I recommend asking for fresh stuff from the back to avoid cross contamination, if the chef doesn't come out and offer) and will go over what he can customize to be safe. If the chef has the ingredients then he can prepare a safe alternative.

Plaza? Chef Ken is awesome (don't know if he's still there,) it's relatively inexpensive, and easy to get a reservation. It would be something simple, like a burger or sandwich on a gluten-free bun (or bunless,) but they could probably do a tofutti or rice dream sundae for dessert. We have found them to be accommodating, although we haven't gone with those specific allergens.

Just a heads up about lunch at BOG...

I'm a T1 diabetic. Even as a T1, I do much of my blood sugar control with diet, so I also avoid potatoes and corn. I read multiple reviews of BOG lunch and even saw pictures of the kiosk screens that would allow you to customize your entree and sub out one already-available side for another. However, when I had lunch at BOG last Saturday, there was a CM who "controlled" the kiosk (I wasn't allowed to go through the screens myself), and she insisted that "this is a QS location and everything comes exactly as it is shown on the menu." I persisted, stating that I had a medical reason for not eating potatoes and simply wanted the braised pork with double green beans (already one of the sides listed with the entree) instead of green beans and potatoes. I was told no. Again, I know this has not been everyone's experience, but do be aware that there may be some CMs who are not entirely aware of how to deal with these requests. I've never, ever had a problem doing something similar with other QS restaurants--such as asking for double cole slaw instead of cole slaw and baked beans with the chicken platter at Flame Tree in AK, etc. I'm hoping BOG was just an exception this time and this won't be SOP. Just be aware and plan accordingly.
