Restaurants you loved but your kids hated.

As a replacement for the actual hamburger. I don't eat meat, so I always make one box with hamburger and one with soy crumbles. About two years ago, she said mine (soy) was better than daddy's (meat) and has refused to touch the regular stuff since. Which just baffles me since cheeseburgers and meatloaf are two of her favorite foods.

That is weird. I ate pretty much everything with hamburger in it because for some reason hamburger was my "safe" food.

Maybe she's a just a noodle purist. I didn't like meat in my pasta for years. Like I would eat all of the spaghetti ingredients just not mixed together:rotfl2:

Another thread got me thinking about this. My kids...well....2 of my 3 kids are the WORST eaters. Very picky. No grill marks on anything. Certain types of cheese only. Weird specks of spices are a no go. It's really super irritating. However I'm not content when my kids aren't happily eating. What Disney restaurants have you tried and really loved but your kids will prevent you from going back?

For me it's Skippers Canteen, Biergarten, and San Angel Inn.

Ugh - I feel your pain. One DS is like this. (And: cheese can only be orange. No black specks of vanilla bean in vanilla ice cream... Sigh. People say he won't starve himself, but he does get tired and cranky so fast at WDW if he doesn't eat enough.)

There was nothing either DS would eat at Biergarten except pretzel bread, so that was $160 plus tip, and then onto a CS place to buy more food. They missed the dancing too (bathroom). On my birthday.

Just want to send some love out to the 3rd kid. I was the oldest, the peace-keeper, the one that ate the food even if it was heinous (looking at you, bell peppers and ratatouille), while the next two kids in line made the families' lives ridiculously hard in relation to food. The following kid was difficult, too, but quieter about it, and I was 15 and wasn't around for much of it. The last kid, who knows? I was 25 and gone and our dad and her mom had given up by that time LOL.

But those years of dealing with the food issues of my two brothers...there's gotta be a support group out there for us, yes?

(on the other hand, I'm the ONLY one in the family with allergies of any kind, and food issues as well...I have developed a theory that the difficult kids are protecting themselves from food that doesn't work for their systems, and by forcing myself to eat gross food I actually harmed myself...so maybe it was the adults that tortured me...I used to have to stay at the table until my brother finished! WHY WHY WHY? And yes I ate his food when my mom's back was turned, so that the torment would just end.)

Haha, that's funny! She doesn't like meat in her spaghetti sauce either. She loves meatballs on the side, but just plain tomato sauce.

That's so funny. When we sent the kids up to the buffet at Biergarten one came back with nothing, the other came back with pretzel bread and butter.

Yeah. He has a pretty exotic palate. Biergarten was his favorite meal of the trip. I also suffer. I love all different kinds of foods. Unfortunately unless I'm making myself a separate meal I'm usually eating what they eat. :crazy2:

DH and I liked Marrakesh; DS hated it, even though he order chicken nuggets, which he loves. DS is picky though, and there's a bunch of places that we would never try with him.

I am afraid that's what will happen at Biergarten for us. He would probably eat the regular rolls too:rotfl2:

Long story short - does anyone have any recommendations for any quick service restaurants at any of the parks that have a good "chicken fingers and fries" option?
I mean if I'm forcing to him to try new foods (at restaurants) I should at least reward him with a chicken fingers and fries option right? LOL

My son LOVES chicken fingers. And pizza. One trip to Disney, every time he was given a choice, it was chicken fingers - even if there were other things on the menu he liked. (I did put my foot down halfway through our 12 night trip though and insisted he order other dishes as well...even if it WAS vacation!)

Lots of great options for chicken fingers at QS places but the best ones (IMO) were: Columbia Harbor House (MK), Restaurantasaurus (AK), and Cookes of Dublin (Disney Springs)

Oh that sucks!! U poor thing :(

My DD is picky too, but my DS somehow struggles more at Disney. Last trip, he ended up with 2 meals he wasn't crazy about. One was Bongos where after a long discussion with the waitress, he ordered the marinated pork bites. He did not care for the spices and had to beg his sister to share her delicious breaded steak). That night he got in the mood for alfredo pasta. I wanted to go to Turf Club for dinner and figured they had to have something like that on their menu. No they didn't and there was no way the kitchen could whip something up for him. Despite all of us advising him to get the steak, he chose the breaded chicken. He quickly discovered his sister's steak was delicious and had to beg yet again (I packed pretty much all of his chicken to go. Sliced up and stuffed into leftover dinner rolls, they had it for lunch - so no waste!).

Oh and Boma was rather a waste for them. While there was plenty of food they would normally eat off the buffet, I think they got weirded out by many of the more exotic choices. They mostly ate fruits that night *sigh*

Since I have no kids, but was (and still am in relation to my parents) the kid my whole life going to Disney, I will tell you where I hated going.

-Mexico...alllll of it!! This is as exotic as my father gets and we always ate in Mexico and ONLY Mexico in W.S. which was SO annoying!! There are literally hundreds of Mexican/American restaurants in our area so why go to FL and get MORE Mexican ?? We always at the QS or San Angel Inn.

-Electric Umbrella - Again, W.S. was right there and so was Sunshine Seasons...SO many options...but nope, we had to get burgers. Wah wah.

I was 29 before I finally convinced my parents to eat at Chefs de France...and my Mom was totally against it, but we all ended up enjoying it of course. 4 months later a friend invited them to Monsieur Paul and they graciously accepted and loved it...seriously??!! 29yrs and I finally get Chefs de France but a friend you see once in a blue moon and you're at Signature Dinning!!!! I digress  In my situation it's almost as if the roles are just reversed, I had to deal with very picky parents and brother my whole life :)

Thank you for the tips. I will have to add them to our QS restaurant options

Skipper Canteen. I thought the bread and honey was divine. Loved my gorgeous plate of vegetables in the Curried Vegetable Crew Stew.

My daughter, as you can see, was rather unimpressed by her dinner.

What kid wouldn't want some broiled Mac n cheese and a big hunk of steamed broccoli ?!?

One of my girls ordered the chicken noodle soup. I'll be honest. It was the ugliest bowl of cns I have ever seen. I wish they would get some uncrustables or something. Lol
