Restaurants you loved but your kids hated.

Another thread got me thinking about this. My kids...well....2 of my 3 kids are the WORST eaters. Very picky. No grill marks on anything. Certain types of cheese only. Weird specks of spices are a no go. It's really super irritating. However I'm not content when my kids aren't happily eating. What Disney restaurants have you tried and really loved but your kids will prevent you from going back?

For me it's Skippers Canteen, Biergarten, and San Angel Inn.

Hm. Tokyo, probably. I mean, I know better than to try though. No one except me likes sushi unless it's Americanized beyond recognition.

Surprised biergarten made your list. I wouldn't have thought that would be a turn off for picky eaters.

Biergarten and Skipper Canteen are two of our family favorites. My picky ODS loved the mac and cheese at SC.

Really there has never been a restaurant they hated. They enjoy eating out even if they don't enjoy everything on their plate.

I've been surprised at some I thought would be a hit and weren't. T-Rex and Sci-Fi in particular I thought would go over well with my friends' kids but they weren't impressed and the five-year old was actually scared by the noise, etc.

My kids can be pretty picky too, but we have never found a Disney restaurant where they couldn't find something they like. Even the more exotic places have pretty standard kid meal choices (and even if they aren't on the menu, typically you can order something kid friendly....Ohana comes to mind here).

I'm interested to see more responses in this, particularly in regards to kids meals that may be prepared with a weird bread, cheese, noodle, etc. Taking my kids for the first time in August. DS (1.5yrs) eats anything. DD (7) constantly goes through weird eating phases. For a while, she wouldn't eat hot dogs until we picked the "skin" off. The only fruit she likes is applesauce. Only veggies are green beans, corn, peas, and potatoes. She loves white cheese and yellow cheese but will not eat them together. She won't eat lettuce, tomatoes, onions, ranch, or mustard, but loves pickles, black olives, tomato sauce, and japanese yum yum sauce. She likes grilled chicken but not nuggets. She loves cheeseburgers and meatloaf but will only eat hamburger helper made with soy crumbles. Kids are strange.

I made a kid cry once when I ordered the whole fried fish at Skipper Canteen. I felt pretty bad about it, but the fish was delicious.

Ha ha, I can imagine! I don't eat fish, but I was really hoping someone near our table would order this so the kids could see it. I think my boys would have gotten a kick out of it.

We have an ADR scheduled for 'Ohana and I have a picky kid. What do they have here that's kid friendly? We've never been before!

Kid-friendly is a weird term to use for 'Ohana. All of the food is kid-friendly. There are no strong flavors that would be off-putting to a child.

They will also bring your kids chicken nuggets, macaroni & cheese or a hot dog if you prefer, but they'll still charge the same price.

My kids like the wings, noodles and chicken....but for those that may not like anything on the menu, they will bring you chicken nuggets and fries if you ask.

That was totally me before the age 14!! Loved broccoli. And olives. Hated almost every other vegetable. Except corn, which I would only eat if it was cut off the cob first.

I wondernwhat it is about the Soy crumbles though. Do you mean she wants the soy crumbles as topping or as a replacement for the actual hamburger?

Rainforest Cafe is like Trex. You'd think the young kids would like it, but usually they're freaked out and the older kids like it (but due to menu less than the creatures).

That's like a kick in the teeth!!

My oldest (who will be turning 12 on our trip) is a "chicken fingers and fries" type of kid. Every meal we eat (when going to a restaurant) is chicken fingers and fries.
(at home he eats anything I make, including some exotic dishes)
I'm guessing he will be in for a shocking surprise when we arrive at Disney - not all the places we are making dining reservations have chicken fingers and fries. LOL
Long story short - does anyone have any recommendations for any quick service restaurants at any of the parks that have a good "chicken fingers and fries" option?
I mean if I'm forcing to him to try new foods (at restaurants) I should at least reward him with a chicken fingers and fries option right? LOL

There is basically one QS chicken nugget & fries option that is the same at virtually every QS. That is one thing you will not have a hard time finding.

Thank you. Just needed that little bit of reassurance before going LOL

As a replacement for the actual hamburger. I don't eat meat, so I always make one box with hamburger and one with soy crumbles. About two years ago, she said mine (soy) was better than daddy's (meat) and has refused to touch the regular stuff since. Which just baffles me since cheeseburgers and meatloaf are two of her favorite foods.
