First trip for our family and need some help: We are spending the day at Hollywood Studios and don't love any of the TS dining options there. Are there restaurants within walking distance that you might recommend? Don't have a park hopper so Epcot is out. 3 adults and one 6 yr old on this trip! Thanks for any and all help!

Yacht & Beach Club or Boardwalk are a short walk or boat ride from DHS. You have a several options there.

Are you looking for lunch or dinner?

Are you using dining plan credits or not?

IMO there's nothing in the Epcot resort area for lunch that I think is worth the travel time to leave DHS and then return. Whether you walk or boat, it's going to be 20 minutes minimum one way.

For dinner, I love bluezoo, but it's not on the dining plan.

We are looking for lunch or dinner, but preferably on the dining plan. Is the Boardwalk a 20 minute walk? I'm thinking we could burn 1.5 - 2 hours just to eat if we had to walk that far, right?

I'm so not familiar with how we'll get around Disney for a week!

The only place you can walk to is the Epcot resort area. It's quite walkable, but as others have pointed out, it's not a short walk.

At Yacht Club, you'll get a nice meal at the Captain's Grille for 1 TS credit. People seem to like the Cape May Buffet at the Beach Club. Worth the walk? Not sure -- the food at Mama Melrose in DHS can be quite good actually.

Last trip we had a plan that we'd leave DHS and go to DTD for dinner, but were reminded (I keep forgetting) that there's no direct bus from DHS to DTD...ended up staying at DHS at having a very nice meal. Sometimes when your choices are "limited" and your expectations are low, you end up having a very nice time after all.

Thanks for the help so far! Two have mentioned the Epcot resort area. What exactly is that? Is that the Boardwalk ?

I need a Disney GPS!

Epcot resort area is the area adjacent to Epcot's World Showcase where the BoardWalk, Yacht & Beach Club, and Dolphin and Swan are located. There's also a walking path and a waterway between the resort area and DHS, so you can either walk the path or take a boat. The boat ride will be fun, but it's not speedy.

So certainly there's lots of eating options at those hotels. Most or all of the restaurants at the Disney hotels (BW, YB) are on the dining plan, while none at the Dolphin and Swan are on the plan.

We like Cape May at the Beach Club resort. You can walk or take a boat to get there, but if you plan on going after Fantasmic, expect to wait a good while for the boat.

Are you going to have park hoppers on your trip ? If so you can take the boat from DHS to Epcot and have your meal there.

Here's a radical thought. You can exit DHS, walk to the buses and head to any resort you wish, eat, and hop on the DHS bus to return. You could go to the Grand Floridian Cafe, Boma, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Boatwrights, wherever you wanted. Find where you want to eat and you can make it work.

I would recommend taking the boat to the Yacht Club/Beach Club and walking over to the Beach Club to try Beaches & Cream, which is a great location and you don't need any ADR's to go there since they don't accept them. Now chances are you would need to wait since it's a small location, however in my opinion it's worth it.

I was thinking the same exact thing. Just because you don't have a car (if that's the case) doesn't mean you are stuck. Take one of the busses from HS to any resort you want and eat there. If you don't want to do that, you have so many food options between the Boardwalk, Yacht & Beach Club, Swan & Dolphin.

Beaches and Cream gets my vote...exit DHS and take the boat to the Beach Club. 50's style burgers and All American Food...it's also cheaper then a lot of the other sit down options in that area. Their desserts are great too. We never miss a chance to go there... :thumbsup2

We enjoyed the big river grill on the boardwalk. there's also a good pizza window on the boardwalk but no place inside to sit and eat. you have to eat outside on the boardwalk. our favorite is shula's in the dolphin but it's not on the dining plan and very expensive, but to us it's worth every penny.

Yes the Boardwalk is a 20 minute walk. The boat will take about as long, maybe longer if you have to wait on the boat.

At the Boardwalk area, you have ESPN Cafe, Big River Grille and Kouzzina that are 1TS. There is also Flying Fish which is 2TS.

At the YC/BC, you have Beaches & Cream and Cape May Cafe (1TS) and Yachtsman Steakhouse (2TS). There is also Hurricane Hannah's that is a CS.

There are several places at the Swan/Dolphin but none are on the dining plan.

Flying Fish is the best of this group but it's 2TS. Out of the 1TS, I don't think any of them are that far above the choices at DHS.

These resorts basically sit one after another or fairly close around Crescent Lake so they are all a distance of about 20 minutes walking. It's a very nice walk if the weather cooperates; we prefer it over the boat any day.

Another suggestion would be what the PP said and you could catch a bus. One of the nicest places to eat is the Turf Club at SSR, which is a resort fairly close (in WDW standards) so the bus ride wouldn't be too terrible.

All these options are going to take you close to 2 hours with travel time and eating if you are planning to return to the park after your meal.

Here is an unconventional thought! Pop Century. It takes less than 15 minutes by bus to get back and forth from the Pop to DHS. It was barely 10 minutes for us several times. We recently stayed a week at the Pop and I found the food court FANTASTIC!! We are fish lovers, and the salmon dinner as well as the fish sandwich, were worth returning from the parks for. and we did. Twice! They also have many other food entrees. One night, when we were enjoying our fish, we saw dozens of families enjoying a meal of chili dogs and chili cheese fries.

If you want to walk or take the boat to the Boardwalk area, there is Beaches & Cream, which is a soda fountain style restaurant, but they take dining. I haven't eaten at Cape May for lunch or dinner, but their breakfast is fabulous. Big River Grill & Brew Pub is good, and I've heard good things about ESPNZone. Did you know that there is a map/brochure with the EPCOT resorts area on it? They're hard to find, but I have several. I think I must have picked them up IN the EPCOT resort area. However, on mine, there are 15 places listed for Dining and another 15 listed for Light Fare/Snacks... and that doesn't count the list for Bars/Lounges. So I'm sure if you don't want to try eating AT DHS, there is something for you at EPCOT resort area. To note... Big River Grill doesn't REQUIRE ADR's and Beaches & Cream doesn't take them. Good luck!

Cape May buffet at Beach Club resort is good. But they are NOT open for lunch. It is a character meal for breakfast and a clam bake buffet for dinner.Beaches n Cream is also at the BC resort and an option, but be aware that since it is a tiny place and does not accept adrs, wait times for a table can be well over an 45 mins-hour for mealtimes .
