Is there a quick list of restaurants that have an AP discount? I'm trying to decide if upgrading one of our AP's so I can get photopass pictures would be worth the additional $300.
Most of the in-park dining places offer AP discounts. The exceptions are quick service places such as the Mint Julep Bar, Gibson Girl, Clarabelle's, and the cozy cones, and carts such as those that sell popcorn, frozen treats, hot dogs, bread, and so on. In DtD you can get AP discounts at many of the restaurants. Exceptions I can think of are Earl of Sandwich always and Rainforest Cafe for dinner. AP discounts are also available at the DL hotel restaurants, but again there are exceptions such as the coffee shop in the DLH and I think I heard the Napa Rose.
Isn't it only a 5% difference on food? 10% verse 15%? I don't know that that makes it worth it unless you buy a LOT of food. Of course the photo pass is nice, plus free parking if you need it. Those two savings could quickly add up to $300, but only if you use them. If you take pictures with your own camera and stay at a walking hotel then the photo and parking aren't big savers either.
You already have an AP, so you already get 10% discount on food and 10% discount on merchandise and have access to the same hotel and tour discounts as all levels of AP. If you upgrade, you will save an additional $5 for every $100 of food and $10 for every $100 of merchandise. Photopass is $39 per day. The difference between deluxe and signature is $250, but you mention $300 so I'm guessing that you originally paid a lower price for the AP you will be upgrading. You say you are not interested in parking.
So by the numbers, assuming a price difference of $300 and without taking into consideration other discounts, you would need to use the photopass for 8 days in order to save money.
Say you use the photopass for 7 days, then you need to spend $540 on food or $270 on merchandise to break even.
Another example is you could use the photopass benefits for 5 days and spend $2100 on food or $1050 on merchandise.
Since black out days and parking are not factors for you, then an upgrade is only beneficial if you plan a lot of days of photopass usage and/or a lot of food and merchandise spending.
Pizza Press on Harbor offers an AP discount. La Brea Bakery, Naples, Jazz Kitchen (sit down and take out), and EOS in DtD do, too. (There are probably more places in DtD, but those are the ones where we've received the discount.) And, I think, CPK at GardenWalk, too.
I just upgraded mine on Saturday so we could get photo-pass. But the 15% off at several of the restaurants was a really nice perk as well! I am so glad I did upgrade, I love the photos and the new app is great!
(We were previous visit every 2 years...buy a $70 photo pass for the 3 days were there kinda visitor. But this is our year of Disney so I NEEDED to get at least 1 signature pass!)

I didn't know about Pizza Press offering a discount! We ate there Saturday but I had a 15% off coupon I printed off the "Visit Anaheim" website. Pizza Press is sooooo good, we can't wait to go back in April so we can have it again!
Do people actually get the photo packages with the AP photos? Or just the digital copies?
I'm asking because I've seen a few people use that $35 package as part of the justification for paying for the higher level pass, but I thought I read that the actual photo packages were no longer included.
