Restaurants to avoid?

I can answer that question. NO! We are also from Texas by the way. The food at the Mexican pavillion was the only bad food we had our entire trip this past January. My son and I didn't even eat it. My GD was really hungry and tried, but finally said 'this isn't Mexican food, can we go somewhere else?' We left our food almost untouched and wound up going to the American Pavilion for a hamburger, even though we really wanted Mexican food. The atmosphere was OK, but the food wasn't edible.
My In-Laws were there in January and their favorite meal was at San Angel. But, of course, they're not from Texas. :earboy2: In fact, I think I saw it posted here that Disney food is "Epnic" food - watered down (unspicey) in order to please the masses.

MY FAMILY AND I SAVED FOR ARE DREAM TRIP , JUNE 2004 14 DAY.S NEVER NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL , WE ONLY DID A FEW COUNTER MEAL . ALL PS , ALL GREAT :bounce: MARY

Chef Mickey's- bad food and limited selections.

Donald's Breakfastarous- rushed and on 2 trips still didn't manage to see all the characters- very rushed.

Never again at the Rainforest Cafe or Planet Hollywood. Terrible food ,noisy ,overpriced. We have tried almost all the WDW restaurants and had nice meals. Maybe it is what you order?

Like they say, different strokes for different folks. We adore Chef Mickey's! Thought Pinnochio's and the ABC Commissary's offerings were above the run-of-the-mill hamburger. Guess that's why the folks at WDW offer so many options.

That said, We'll never, ever, eat at the Yaughtsman again, although the food was excellent, the CM's were snobby and condescending (duck, here come the flames!) The evening was a real turn-off, such a disappointment. If you feel the need for a good steak, LeCellier was classy, welcoming and delicious.

I'd never call Le Cellier "Classy". Decent and sometimes great food, yes, have to agree there, but "classy"? Nope, it's no more "classy" than Outback, which falls just above TGIF in my book.

As far as the "snobby" service, I think often it's imagined by people who feel intimidated by a place for whatever reason. (Not saying that's the case here.) Sooo many people say that some of the deluxe resorts are too "snobby" for them, which is a ludacris statement to make--if they are so snobby then why do so many enjoy them?

While service might be "poor", "poor" and "Snobby" are two different animals.

That said, my husband was treated in a very condescending manner by our "Victoria" at V&A's (our Albert was a gem). To me, condescending is something specific that happens, a specific statement or incident, "snobby" is perceived. Hope that makes sense, and NOT trying to flame the poster.

:confused3 :guilty: we had dinner and breakfast last JUNE , had a great time :bounce: :bounce: !!!!!!!!!! :flower: TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS

I have a son who's now a young adult, but even back when he was still a kid we gave up on CM's--he never really liked it. I think the last time we ate there was in 1998. There are sooo many better character meals. The napkin twirling is obnoxious, and IMHO unsanitary, twirling napkins full of crumbs and who knows what wiped from kids mouths all over the place, yuck! Napkins are for laps, if they want you to twirl something they should provide streamers. It also gets the kids too wound up and makes the noise level in the place UNBEARABLE.

We have tried many WDW restaurants over the years. Our "favorites" are always changing. Partly because dd is no long little and a fussy eater, partly because the restaurants have changed over the years, some to our enjoyment, some not. When we first started going 15+ years ago the Rose & Crown was a must do, but when they changed their menu a number of years back, we kinda of lost interest. One of our current favorites is/was CRT for lunch. We will see what changes come with the new Princess Lunch.

A new favorite for us is Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian.

Thinking back over the years, the only restaurants that we have done once and intentionally never returned to are Tony's at the MK (no particular reason, we just weren't impressed) and Fulton's at DTD (terrible food and even worse service!!)

All you have to do is mention you have not seen a character and they get them over there to get you out of your table. We have never had this problem at this place but...the food is not greatit is more kid atmosphere.
As for the Coral Reef we have found it is very hit or miss. They OFTEN change their menu- seasonally and more so. But we go because the kids love the view. If we stick to local seafood(like pompano) it is usually very good.
We will never go back to Nine Dragons. We thought we were going to be MSGed to death. Again this is a case of we get great chinese in china town in NYC so this was not even close to us.

LTT in MK- I ate there for lunch last December with my DS15. Even though we had a PS we waited almost an hour to be seated, the server basically ignored us after we were seated, and the food was horrible. I know that it is sponsored by Stoffer's, but I was expecting the food to taste better than a reheated frozen dinner. Other than that, we've had pretty good luck :)

OH that explains the taste!!! I thought stove top when we went but I did not pay attention to the stoffers connection.

the only place blacklisted for us at this point is Hollywood and Vine....did not enjoy that meal AT ALL

I guess I could add Pizza Planet...my son wants to go there again this next trip and we are just going to take him to play video games or something cause the pizza is horrible.

I may give rainforest cafe another chance someday, but right now its not high on the list...too many other places to try and found that mediocre at best.

the two places we are repeating this trip is Ohana and Marrakesh....

We weren’t crazy about the following restaurants

o 50’s Prime Time Café – food was so-so and service was okay, but it’s extremely noisy with foot traffic bustling by constantly :moped:
o Alfredo’s in Epcot’s Italy – IMHO, servers need attitude adjustments and we’ve been there on four separate occasions throughout the years.
o Cinderella’s Royal Table – admittedly, it’s been awhile since we’ve dined there, but the food was mediocre at best
o Tony’s Town Square – breakfast is okay, but all other meals are too pricey
o Planet Hollywood – the food is actually not bad at all, but it’s way too noisy – it’s difficult to hear when they’re calling you for your table! However, that’s pretty much par for the course for eateries of this ilk. I guess my age is telling on me!

Chef Mickey's, Pinnochio's Village Haus, the ABC Commisary and Backlot Express, and San Angel Inn are the only places I will NEVER EVER EVER eat at again, if it was FREE or they PAID me I wouldn't eat there again.
Anne

Would you mind elaborating on why you didn't like Chef Mickeys, Village Haus (Best cheese fries in all of Disney), and San Angel?

ABC wasnt to bad either...

Honestly though, San Angel is my favorite restaurant on the entire property. The atmosphere is awesome! I'm most curious about what turned you off to the Angel?

I would have to say the Garden Grill! I don't like the fact they bring a skillet full of food and you may not want everything on it! Who wants to waste food even though you have paid for it. They would not delete the items off the plate that I didn't want. So, it's just a big waste...on top of that the food was NOT GOOD! Characters were great...Pluto sat at the table with us for about 20 minutes coloring! Another one is Toy Story Pizza Planet in MGM. Not good at all <sorry> That's all I can think of right now!

The arcade at the Pizza Planet does make up a bit for the lack of food. </VIDEO GAME JUNKIE>

For me it would be Liberty Tavern for dinner. I used to enjoy it before it changed to a character meal. We ate there 2 years ago, had to wait over an hour with a PS and the food tasted like cafeteria food to me.

I definitely agree with Hollywood and Vine, very overpriced buffet and the food is bordering on BAD. Golden Corral is better for a fraction of the price and we are NOT picky eaters at all!

My husband and I are both from Texas (he's hispanic) so we are both used to getting really authentic Mexican food. We had a great experience while dining in Meixico(Epcot). The atmosphere is lovely! Yes, the food is not real Mexican food but I wouldn't call it bad! My pasta dish was quite spicey actually, and I like spice! As for the pastries in the France bakery, it's always one of our favorite stope. We like them just as well as the one's we buy at our favorite bakery in Paris/ :flower1:

Tonys - burnt food, unbelieveably small portions even for kids meals, uncaring and rude server. Never again!

More than ten years ago I had a horrible trip for food and have never returned to Alfredos, Coral Reef or Brown Derby. The statute of limitations have run out and we will be giving Alfredos another chance next trip. Brown Derby was probably very off - we were there for lunch the week MGM opened. Still haven't heard great things about Coral Reef, and my husband isn't a seafood guy, so we probably won't be back. Also, whoever said the Liberty Tree Inn - that was also years ago, but I can't imagine ever going back to that crowded counter with bad dry burgers.

However, we like San Angel Inn and have been several times. It isn't the best meal we've had at WDW, but its been acceptable.
