My children are allergic to milk products. I was just wondering if anyone knows some restaurants that accomadate milk allergies or have food that is lactose free.

All of the Disney restaurants, table and quick service, will be able to accomodate you.

For table service when you make reservations have it noted on the reservation and remind them at the podium when you are seated. Usually a chef will come out and discuss everything with you, even preparing special foods if needed.

For Quick Service ask the cashier, who will either be able to assist or will get a manager who knows what is going on.

My girls both have milk allergies, plus peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, the list goes on. Disney is the absolute best I have ever seen anywhere with handeling these issues.

Every table service meal we have had since discovering these allergies a few years ago has been consistently positive. When they find out about the situation (they typically ask before I even have a chance to tell them) the head chef comes to your table to discuss their condition in detail. He or she will then give you some options- almost always including desert. They usually prepare, plate, and serve the food personally- ensuring no cross contamination. Even for meals served family style, they bring a seperate platter of all princess food (our family code word for allergy safe food princess: )

I wish the regular non-disney restaurants in our area could be half as diligent in their efforts - don't get me started there.

PS - If you children have a true milk "allergy" - ie an allergic reaction to milk protien you need to watch for more than just lactose.

Disney is so good about acommodating food allergies that we're planning a Disney trip next year and just found out our grandson is lactose intolerant. When we found out, my daughter-in-law said "Disney will take care of it". When we went on the Disney cruise last year, my mother-in-law can't stand cilantro. She's not allergic to it but hates the taste. When our server took notice she wasn't eating that much on the first night, she told him why. She was never served anything for the rest of the seven day cruise that had any cilantro in it.

Rest assured you are travelling to the best place in the world when it comes to managing allergies of this kind. My DH is allergic to milk (anaphylactic shock and death) and my DD can not digest milk protein. We were able to eat all over (and we did because we were on the dining plan) without incident. I especially appreciated the ease in getting soy milk as easily as any other beverage. I had it noted on our ADRs and then reminded the servers at the restaurant. They all seemed like "oh, diary, that's easy, it's not one of the hard allergies." It made me smile and relieved.

Just an FYI... We were just at WDW last week and at every table service, we were asked if there were any food allergies in our party. We thought that was a nice thing for them to make note of.
