Restaurants in Paris?

Okay, not strictly related to Disney, but to those of you who have speant time in Paris, can you recommend anywhere for a nice lunch?

I need to find somewhere thats reasonably priced, delicious, does a nice steak, is not too far away from the Eiffel Tower, has all the frenchie classics, and it must have good dessert! (I'm talking chocolate dessert, none of that fruity rubbish). We're not after anywhere fancy pants, just really tasty simple food.

Don't want much do I?

Having lunch in Paris is one of the things I'm most looking forward to about our trip, so I have to find somewhere good!

Head into the Latin Quarter - Left bank near St Michel/ St Germain des Pres . There are loads of cheap but cheerful restaurants here as its the student area.

Another option if you want something near the Eiffel Tower - head up to Tracadero (walk up the hill past the fountains) and there are a few restaurants up here that are nice and French and not too expensive

Very classic restaurant-brasserie in a amazing setting and it's been there since 1921 so it must be doing something right

Try Le Malakoff or Café du Trocadéro. Great views of ET from Place du Trocadéro. Decent steak frites!!

It doesn't do steak but Angelina's on Rue de Rivoli is always on my list when I go to Paris. Croque Monsieur / Madame the size of doorstops, beautiful patisserie and the most indulgent hot chocolate in the world. It's a beautiful tearoom - something different but definitely not a light lunch!

There are also some nice places if you head south / south-east from the Eiffel Tower and get off the tourist trail a bit but I never remember what and where, sorry.

We love going to Cafe Breitz for a great crepe! I'm going to try all the other places everyone listed....will report back!

I'm really interested in this thread because we're spending 3 nights in Paris next summer.

Oh, Angelina's We ate at Angelina's on our last day trip into Paris from DLP - we had smoked salmon club sandwiches (that were to die for), the most beautiful cakes (also to die for) and DH and my DDs had hot chocolate. I wish I could have done too but I have to be very careful with chocolate or else I'll be suffering with a migraine for the next week.

Another vote here for cafe du commerce. I'd been trying to think of the name of it so thanks carrie. It was full of locals which is always a good sign .
