Hi everyone,
I am planning my honeymoon and we want to make a couple nice dinner reservations. I wanted to go to WDW but we just went in September and he promised disney for Christmas this year instead of our honeymoon.

Anyways, we have a luau package already booked. And we want to go to the Diners Drive Ins and Dives place the Rainbow Drive Inn and Leo's Pub. Do you have any ideas?
We are staying at the Marriot Beach Club in Waikiki if that helps any.

We also contemplated the sunset dinner cruise, anyone have experience with that?
We have all our tours, and excursions planned but we wanted some nice meals!
Thanks so much in advance!!!

We have to go to The Side Street Cafe while there. Take a look at Trip Advisor for reviews - it is simply wonderful and not a tourist destination either.

Is it Hawaiian food or what type? :) We arent set on a particular genre preferably not just typical American we are in Hawaii;)

Well it is actually The Side Street Inn - I just looked at their web site and they have added a second location since we were last there in July. We went on recommendation of a local and he suggested the pork chops. I would not normally order pork chops in a restaurant (especially Hawaii) but they were divine! They are one of the entrees they are known for locally and they melt in your mouth.

For local "grinds"-traditional Hawaiian plate lunch-Kinikees in Wiamanalo-the kaluha pork is as good as at any luau and the fried mahi mahi is awesome-Hawaiian food is not diet food-you get meat, rice and macaroni salad-but its cheap as Hawaii goes and tastes awesome.
Malasada's at Leonards bakery-yummmmm
Shave ice at Masimotos on the North shore

the Shore Bird in the Wakiki outrigger is really good-and they have another place thats good too-the name escapes me right now tho.
We did a sunset dinner cruise-it was fun but-we were they only people who were not Japanese or over 70 on the boat.

:thumbsup2 Don't forget Big Kahuna's pizza near the airport, different varieties of pizza, but they have garlic cheese balls that are to die for. My first trip Oahu was in 07 and I am still drooling at the thought of those.

We spent our honeymoon, and many visit since to Hawaii. Go to Orchids at the Halekulani hotel. Request an ocean view table. This means don't use Open Table to do a reservation online. Call the hotel directly as online has no way of indicating ocean view. It isn't as fancy as Le Mer, but just as amazing.

Alan Wong's (the name sake, not the Pineapple Room) is modern Hawaiian fusion at its finest. This is very hard to find if driving, and has literally no view. But the food is great.

A short 15 minute drive out of Waikiki is Roy's. They have them on the mainland, but the original is always best. The chocolate souffle is worth going there for alone.

For pure atmosphere, walk along the beach to Hula Grill at the Outrigger. It is a place we always go to have a fruity drink with an awesome view. You can eat here too, but Duke's upstairs is better.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village has fireworks on some nights. They have a restaurant in the Rainbow Tower that is pretty good, and when paired with the ocean view and fireworks, it is pretty cool. You will have to call the hotel to request the right night/time/table to make it all work.

DH and I stayed in waikiki for a couple of nights in July.

We had drinks at The Top of Waikiki. It was a really cool place! http://topofwaikiki.com

Have you considered doing a luau? We went to Germaine's. It was cliche touristy but still fun!

Hawaii is beautiful! Enjoy

Already booked a luau through the Polynesian Cultural center:)

Everyone thank you so much I'm researching them all right now:)

DH and I love Roy's. I think there are 3 on Oahu. The service is always great as is the food. The pupu's (appetizers) and mai tai's are so great and the lava cake dessert is to die for. I know there are several on the mainland, but the ones in HI are special.

Ok, if you have a rental car, it is really worth a trip to the North Shore and hit up Giovanni's Shrimp Truck. It is just about the sketchiest place you could ever eat at, but you must trust me and if you like shrimp scampi, this Hawaiian version is TO DIE FOR. Then it Matsumoto's for shave ice (get it with the ice cream, it's really worth it).

So far we've made a reservation for Top of Hawaii, and want to hit the shaved ice and the pizza place! I'm anaphalactic to seafood and mushrooms...and everyone is like uhmm you have a sea food allergy and are going to Hawaii good job lol. All I know is I'm so excited to eat ALOT of pineapple!

Garlic Cheese Balls that sounds like uhm.. HEAVEN

I don't like seafood and HATE mushrooms. You will be fine. There will be a decent selection for you even at the seafood specialty places.

I'm not sure if it matters to you or not but alcohol is not allowed/served at the Polynesian Cultural Center.

We went to the Paradise Cove luau when we went this past summer for DD's Make A Wish trip.

We don't drink so its not a biggie:) We think the alcohol ruins the drink lol.
I hope the MAW trip went well... what was your DD's favourite part of the trip? :)

This past October, my wife and I went to Maui as sort of 2nd honeymoon ... we had the *finest* dinner we've ever had -- anywhere!! -- at Merriman's of Kapalua. It was a dining experience so good, I'll *never* forget it!!

I don't know if you're going to do any island hopping, but there are more than one Merriman's in Hawaii: http://www.merrimanshawaii.com/
