I'm going on my first solo trip to DL on Dec. 4&5 and was wondering which restaurants I should try. I don't eat red meat and will be on a budget. I'm looking for salads, fish, lighter side meals. I purchased a 2 day park hopper on line today, so it doesn't matter which park I eat in since I have admission to both. I am soooo excited about going to DL.:bounce:

Here is a link to menus from 2001. That is the best that is on the internet now and will give you an idea of what is available. Your best bet is for the more expensive places in the parks and restaurants such as the Blue Bayou at Disneyland, The Vinyard Room at DCA and the following places at the hotels, Napa Rose and Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian ( which is very convenient to DCA), Hooks Point at the Disneyland hotel. Some of the restaurants at Downtown Disney may be a better choice as well.
The following restaurants are not open anymore,
ABC Soap Obera Bistro
Hollywood and Dine
These are not open much at all so don't plan on them,
Lucky Fontune cookery
Maliburritos

monte,
Congradulations on your first solo trip to DLR. What a wonderful time to go!

For "budget" meals on the light side, I like to grab something at the Bengal Barbeque in Adventureland (vege and/or chicken skewers) or Pizza Planet in Tomorrowland for decent salads and pastas. I haven't spent enough time at DCA to make recommendations there. If you like sushi or Japanese food, the Japanese restaurant at the Paradise Pier is very good, but it's not exactly budget. For better fare, including some of the restaurants daannzzz mentioned, you might plan your main meal at lunchtime to save a little money.
Enjoy!

The Countdown Chicken Fusilli at Redd Rockets is really good. It is pasta served with a rich cream sauce and chicken. Redd Rockets also has a pretty good Chicken Salad.

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate the help. ;) I am really looking forward to getting away and spending time in DL especially since all of the Christmas decorations will be up.:wave2:

In June I ate at Blue Bayou by myself. It was really nice. They let me stay at the table for a while after I ate because I was writing my trip report (and I was having asthma problems). The food was really good and the CM's were the best!

Is the Blue Bayou expensive? I'm in my count down mode, only 6 days til I go to California:Pinkbounc Does anyone know what the temperature is? It's been in the single digits here.

If I am by myself for a meal I like to be where i can best people watch......so I would vote for the Riverbelle Terrace outside patio overlooking the rivers of America, and the French Market in NOS out on the patio and possibly with live music. Both should have vegetarian selections.:D

We just came back and it was warm during the day and windy at night. It was about 65-70 during the day and a little cooler at night. I looked at weather.com before we left and the prediction was right.

Have a great time!!!! Disneyland at Christmas is the BEST!!:D

I agree with everyone else on the suggestions so far. Be sure to go into the French Market even if you do not eat there. The Oogie Boogie gingerbread display is pretty cool.

The Blue Bayou is the most expensive restaurant inside of DL. Dinner entrees start over $20 before beverages, tax, tip. Lunches are less expensive, but still pretty pricey. Many of the restaurants have menus posted outside, so you can see what your choices are. You need a PS for Blue Bayoo, but it is one of the few restaurants inside of the parks that take PS.

The highs in Anaheim have been around 70 according to MSN weather, but it fluxuates a bit this time of year. The long range forecast has highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s most of the next 10 days. You should have pleasant weather, especially compared to what you have been experiencing. Have fun.

Consider riding the Monorail to Downtown Disney and eating at the RainForest Cafe, better food and fairly reasonable. There are plenty of other choices to.

Also, Rancho Zocale near the Riverboat has decent food inside DL.

Well, I'm back! I had 2 fun filled days at Disney, I was in the parks from 9:30am - 11:30 pm on Friday and man am I tired!:p The River Terrace was closed while I was there, which was a disappointment, but I did make it to the New Orleans section.

In Disney Land, I ate at the French Market and had the spinich salad with shrimp and rolls, which was good.
I also ate at one of the resorts, but forget the name of it. It (sort of) reminded me of the Wilderness Lodge at Disney World and it's located right in Downtown Disney. Anyway, I had the cobb salad, which comes with scrumptous corn bread and rolls.

In California Adventure I ate at a grill near Soarin over California and had a chicken sandwich, fries and a vanilla milkshake, it was just ok, but the shake was good!

All and all I had a good time, but the crowds in Disney Land, were crazy on Friday:crazy:
